Woody
"Alright Ms. Sherrie I'll see you later on."

"Alright baby thanks for helping me clean up."

"You're welcome."

"You're still here?"

"Yeah, I was helping your mom clean some of the stuff up but I'm about to leave now."

"Let me walk you out."

I opened the door for her so she could step out first then I followed behind her.

"Your girlfriend is nice...and beautiful. Y'all make a lovely couple."

"Thank you."

"Oh lord." She opened her car door and placed her plate on the passenger seat.

"What?"

"Every time you hesitate before you respond that mean you have a problem."

"No it does not."

"Yes it does, Woody. You hesitated before you told me what you and Jay used to do back in the day, you hesitated before you told me you went to jail and let's not forget when you hesitated when I asked you why you never wanted to be my dance partner. So what's wrong?"

"We're having a little trouble in paradise that's all."

"Okay." She got up from the bench we were sitting on. "Whatever the problem is I hope y'all can fix it."

"Me too." I mumbled.

"And you know I'm always here for you."

"Thanks Stac." We both leaned and hugged each other. "Drive safe."

"I will."

She got in her car, started it up and reversed out of the driveway and drove onto the street. I watched her drive off until she disappeared then I walked into the house.

"What kind of trouble y'all got?"

I turned around to face my mother in the living room.

"Ma'am?"

"If you can 'ma'am' you can hear. Now what kind of trouble you and my daughter in law got going on?"

"Ma no disrespect but what's going on between Simone and I is between-"

"You and Simone yeah I know, now answer my question?"

"Ma there's nothing to answer, we're just having couple problems that's it."

"Woody-"

"Ma we're good. I promise."

"Alright."

"I love you." I kissed her cheek and headed upstairs to my room. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I probably should've told my mama what was going on but I chose not to tell. Simply because it's my business, I'm a grown man and truth be told I don't even know what's going on right now. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I want to hate her but I have so much love for her and it's still hard to believe. Before I left we were finally doing good. We were on the right road to happiness. But when I leave all hell broke loose. I just want to know what made her go out and cheat.
