Woody
"Aye Woody, wasn't that your baby momma that just walked in that apartment three doors down?""Nah man that's not his baby mama, that's his ex girlfriend." Lance answered for me as he hit Pete upside his head.
"Same thing."
"No it's not. Baby mama mean she has my baby and ex girlfriend mean we used to date, which we did and last time I checked we didn't have any kids together. So she's my ex girlfriend not my baby mama."
"Well either way it goes, was that her?"
"Yeah that was her and no you can't holler at her. So don't even try it."
"If she's your ex then why can't he holler?"
"Because-"
"You still hitting that?"
"Man I'm not even about to go there with you."
"Answer the question, yes or no? Cause if you ain't smashing then he can."
Terrance said causing him and Pete to slap hands.
"Like I said he can't and he better not try to either. I'll see y'all later."
I slapped hands with them and then I headed down the stairs. When I headed down the stairs I passed by Simone's door and old memories started to come back but I shook them away before they fully could come back then I proceeded down the stairs. Whether Simone and I was together or not, none of my boys were going to talk to her. Especially Pete, if he thought he was going to say anything to her other than hey and bye then he had another thing coming. I've been knowing Pete for a while now and I know when it comes to women he's not a gentleman at all.
On my way home I saw my gas hand getting a little low so I stopped at the gas station. I pulled up at the pump, got out and went to go pay for it. When I came back out I pumped my gas and after that I go to the driver side to get in. I opened my door but before I could get in someone called my name. I turned around I saw Destiny, Simone's little sister, smiling and coming my way.
"Hey Woody."
"Wassup little bit?"
"Nothing much, just getting back from this small kickback and now I'm heading home."
"You wasn't doing anything you shouldn't be doing at the party were you?"
"No I wasn't."
"Alright. You know I have to be on the safe side and check on you."
"I know."
"Where you just coming from?"
"Business lil gir-"
"Uh uh you know the drill. You ask me about my business I ask you about yours."
"Well if you must know I just left my home boy house."
"Justin?" She asked with a smirk.
"Yes and no I didn't speak to your sister."
"Woody! Why not?" She whined.
"By the time I left she was in her house."
"In order to get down the stairs you have to pass her door, so why didn't you knock?"
"To tell the truth Destiny your sister and I have a lot of things to say to each other besides apologizing."
"Okay, so why didn't you do that?"
I shrugged my shoulders as I looked straight ahead.
"Look Woody out of all of her boyfriends she's dated in the past, you're my favorite. I know everything she did was wrong and I don't blame you for being mad but you guys were best friends before you started dating. If you're not going to start dating again then at least go back to being friends."
To tell you the truth I wasn't sure if we could even go back to being friends but I wasn't going to tell Destiny that. She said it with so much hope and I didn't want to let her down and break her heart.
"We'll see Destiny. I'll talk to you later."
"Alright. See you Woody."
She walked off to her friend's car and I waved and got into mine.
I missed Simone & I's relationship but I most importantly miss our friendship. The laughs we shared. The talks we shared. I even miss being there for each other when one of us had a problem. Growing up you couldn't pull us apart. We were always joined at the hip. Nine times out of ten when you saw her, you saw me and vice versa. No one could come between our friendship.
Flashback
Today was Wednesday, two days before our eight grade spring formal dance and I still didn't have a date. All my boys had dates and girls they were just walking in and taking pictures with and I had no one to do those things with. Everyone was suggesting that I take Simone but I didn't know if she already a date and if she was even going. I got up from the bench I was sitting at outside and I got up to go to class when the bell rang. Soon as I walked to my next class I saw Simone coming my way."Hey Woody."
"Hey Simone. You found a date to the spring formal dance?"
"Nah, I haven't found anyone worth my time. What about you?"
"I haven't found anyone either. All the girls are either taken or I took them years before."
"Why can't you take them again?"
"Because I want to take someone new."
A girl in our class walked by my desk.
"Why don't y'all just take each other."
"That wouldn't be a bad idea."
"Nah it wouldn't."
So two days later we went to the dance and we enjoyed ourselves. It was the most fun I've ever had and she said the same thing. I'm glad Leslie suggested that we go because at first I wasn't coming if I didn't find a date.
That night at the dance was the most fun I've ever had. I really enjoyed myself with my best friend. I wish I could relive that memory but unfortunately I can't.
