mike helping you study for science

You were never very good at science. Actually, that was an understatement. Your parents hired tutors, but throughout your middle school journey, you only got worse and worse. And it wasn't because you didn't pay attention, either; you studied every night. You just weren't very good at the subject. You had A's in every class, but science.

"It's easy, see." Mike shook his head, pointing to the diagram on page 92 with the cap of his pen. "The food chain. You learn about that in, like, kindergarten."

"I know. And I understand it!" You cried out, your head in your hands. Currently, you and your classmate, Mike, sat in the local public library. You had known Mike for a while now, though you only started talking a month ago when you were paired up for a Physics project. Ever since then, Mike had been tutoring you. And he did quite a good job. Funny, how a fourteen year old boy could do a better job than a college student at tutoring. "I just can't read the questions."

"I know. The questions are stupid," he nodded like he understand. Though you knew that he didn't, everything in science came easy for Mike, "but you can't not do them, you know,
Y/N. That's why I'm here."

"I know," you sighed.

"Here, try this one," Mike slid the textbook toward you, pointing at question three.

A few minutes later, you sat back up and looked at him. Smiling, Mike leaned over to see your work. You had drawn a diagram, like the question asked, and according to Mike, it was correct. "Perfect!" He exclaimed and high five-d you. "Feeling ready for the quiz tomorrow? You did that question well."

"I don't know," you shook your head, shrugging, "the quiz is hard, according to the other class."

"I think you got it in the bag."

And you did. The next day, you ran up to Mike, waving your test in the air. He turned from his locker to look at you, a smile creeping up on your lips at the sight of yours.

"B!" You exclaimed, stopping in front of him.

"Nice!" He grinned widely, giving you a high five. "I told you that you had it! How about some celebratory ice cream? I can get my mom to drive us after school? My treat. You deserve it, Y/N."

"I could never pass on a vanilla sundae."
