I walked towards my couch as I dragged my blanket with me. It was freezing. I threw myself onto the couch and covered myself with the blanket. I shivered coldly as I accidently bit my lip.
“Fuck.” I muttered to myself as I grabbed a tissue to press against the inside of my lip to get the blood off.
I then grabbed the TV remote and turned the TV on. Hmm, what to watch? I guess I’ll just watch Sunrise. I placed the remote on the coffee table and watched it quietly.
-A few hours later-
I still lay in my comfortable couch and I still watched the Television. I was clearly bored, but I was sick. I coughed loudly before I sniffed my runny nose. I groaned loudly and got up to go get a ‘Panamax’. I opened a packet and grabbed a pill and grabbed a glass of water. I threw my head back and chugged the pill with the water. Yuck.
I half jumped to the sudden noise. My ringtone. I again groaned and made my way to my room.
I rushed to my phone and answered quickly and brought the phone to my ear.
“Hello?” I croaked.
“Hey…” I’m guessing John said.
“John?” I asked.
“Hey, it’s me John.” He chuckled.
“Oh hi. What’s up?” I chirped.
“Uhh… I was going to ask if I could come over to your place today.” He asked nervously.
“I am feeling really sick… But if you still want to come over you can.” I replied as I sighed to myself.
“So I can come? I’ll take care of you.” He chuckled again.
“Yes you can. I’ll message you my address! See you then.” I spoke.
“See you.” He replied cheerfully.
I shut the phone and turned on my heel and threw myself on my bed, I messaged him my address and locked my screen.
Now I have to get ready. I jumped up and walked over to my cupboard. I didn’t want to overdress myself so I just chose to wear my sweats and a simple t-shirt. Nothing more. I fixed my hair, and I decided to leave it down. I looked in the mirror, I looked decent.
There was a slight knock on the door, and I knew it was John; Obviously. I still looked through the peeping hole just to make sure. It was him. And did he look hot. I fixed my hair before I opened the door. I shot him a grin as he stared into my eyes. We stared into each other’s eyes for a while, my eyes boring into his hazel eyes. He shot me a grin back before I looked down and broke our eye connection.
“Hey!” He smiled.
“Hey John.” I smiled back before I welcomed him in.
“Nice apartment you got…” He pointed out as he took off his red vans.
“Thanks.” I said as I shot him a dazzling smile.
I walked in front of him so I could lead him to my lounge room, I heard his footsteps behind me.
“This is my lounge room… Make yourself at home!” I smiled.
“Thank you.” He replied before he sat down on a couch. I sat down next to him.
I coughed loudly. I think I was going to die. It was pretty hot in here, I don’t know if it’s because the heaters on… Or because I’m sitting next to a freaking sex god. I don’t know why, but when I sat next to him I got the butterflies… Not that it meant anything. I am still upset and angry for what he made me live through, but I should forget the past and live on with the future right? Or should I not forget about the past? I sighed loudly before I looked at him.
“So how’s life?” I asked as I tried to find a topic that would help make the situation less awkward.
“It’s okay really. Not the best of times, but it’s not the worst. What about you?” He asked me.
“Meh.. Mine isn’t the best either.” I shrugged.
“Life goes on… Hay?” He laughed.
“Yeh, it sure does.” I laughed.
Our laughing soon died off and we were stuck with the awkward silence that was sitting with us. Great. This was so awkward, gah!
He sighed painfully.
I cocked my head to the side. “What’s wrong? You look.. You look, upset and... Confused. You can tell me” I smiled reassuringly.
He placed his hands in his lap and stared blankly ahead.
“John” … “Tell me what’s wrong.” I insisted.
“You’ll take it the wrong way though…” He said as he shrugged.
“I won’t.” I assured him. “I won’t.”
“You’re different. Lola, ever since I saw you at the party… Oh stuff it. You won’t understand.” He blabbed on.
I was kind of speechless.
“No, just tell me…” I said as I was amazed at how I sounded. My heart was pounding.
“Ever since I saw you at the party, you, I don’t know. You’re different to other girls, you aren’t the same. I’ve never felt like this when I was with a girl before. I have been in love, but not like this. You are probably now wondering ‘What the hell, he doesn’t even know me?’ But, it feels like I’ve known you before. You are different. I feel this thing towards you, like a string connecting us together, latching us together…” He spoke out.
Wow.
“You do.” I blurted out. Crap, crap, crap.
“I do what?” He answered as he raised an eye brow.
“I mean, you do know me, as in we have talked before and all…” I fitted in sighing to myself.
“Yeh, that is true.” He said as he turned his face to look at me.
He again stared into my eyes; I felt my heart race, as we moved in closer, closer, closer. I felt his hot breath against my lips and I felt his body warmth against mine. We were close, lips about to touch. We were in this position for a while before the bell rang. Fucking hell.
“I’ll go get that.” I muttered.
Who can this be now? I walked towards the door. I looked through the peep hole, Emmanuel.
I nearly swallowed me tongue, as my breath hitched.
“Brianna, are you home?” He asked.
“Who is it?” John called from inside.
I didn’t know who to reply to. If I reply to John, Emmanuel will hear. If I open the door… My life is kind of over. I just hope that John didn’t hear Emmanuel call out my real name ‘Brianna.’
