(Author's POV)

You followed the sound of Charles' voice. He was having a conversation, so you didn't intrude. You were about to walk past when you heard your name being mentioned. "Now, Raven listen to me. Do not scare her off, we need her" you heard Charles say. She laughed before replying "Really? She's so antisocial that she couldn't possibly do more good than bad."

"That was unkind and completely uncalled for!"

"If she really wants to stay, then she'll stay. I struggle to see how I could possibly change her mind." It was then that you walked off.

What if she's right? You can't do this. You're not like them. They're all confident and... You took a deep breath. You WERE going to stay.

You came to the school later than everyone, you were at a disadvantage. You also just weren't good at fighting, another disadvantage. This was going to be your first training session with the group, and to say you were anxious would be an understatement.

(Charles' POV)

"You like her, don't you?"

"Raven, that is completely besides the point!"

"I'll act the way I want towards her. And if she likes you as much as you like her, then we've got no worries about her leaving, do we?" Raven walked out with a smirk plastered to her face. I internally punched myself. Is it really that obvious? I musn't show favouritism in my school.
