(Author's POV)

Although you had been warned about the group training session, nothing would have prepared you for that day.

You met outside, as usual. Everyone was there. You checked your watch: on time. They must have woken early today. "(Y/N)?" Charles called "Why are you late?". You opened your mouth, but nothing came out. You were shocked, this wasn't like Charles. "Don't be so hard on her, she's on time" you were also shocked by the words that came from Raven. "Well, it's better to be early, okay?" You just nodded. "Okay, I trust you can all warm up on your own" You all found your own spaces. Charles just stood and watched from the front.

After a while, Charles called you all in. "This is how it's going to work: I can only help one person at a time, so the rest can just watch and give feedback" Charles scanned the group, as if looking for volunteers. "(Y/N)! Would you like to go first?" You know I don't, why are you doing this to me? Charles seemed to ignore you, so you had no choice but to walk to the front of the group. "For anyone who doesn't know, (Y/N) can turn invisible"

You took a deep breath and closed your eyes. You tried to use your fear to fuel your power. You kept flickering between invisible and not, because you were shaking so much. "You need to focus (Y/N)!" A seemingly polite request sounded so angry this time. You tried again, but by then Charles had already given up. "Okay! Mystique, you're next"

You didn't eat that night. You went to your room early that night, but couldn't sleep. You couldn't breathe, you felt nauseous, and your throat was choked up.

Erik was sent to encourage 'lights out'. "(Y/N)? It's time to switch the light off." He called. When he got no reply, he knocked before walking into your room. "(Y/N), are you okay?" You quickly wiped away your tears. "Uh... um... yeah"

"you know, I may bot be Charles, but even I know that was a very unconvincing lie. Would you like to tell me what's wrong?" Erik's words made you chuckle slightly. "I'm not really fit for this school, am I? I don't know why I thought I should stay here." Erik looked you in the eyes. "hey, (Y/N)? I'm pretty sure that if you really wanted to leave, you would have done it already. And, if you'd really like, I could train you extra, out of the group."

"thanks for the offer. That's a pretty good idea, but I think I'd prefer to train on my own" Erik left, turning the light off as he went.
