Chapter 8
Shiori grinned as Maya, Ayame and Shana talked about their embarrassing moments in life.
“And then he just stared at me and it was so awkward! I was just like hi but he looked at me weirdly and laughed with his friends. I’m never going to try that again!” Maya finished with a sheepish expression.
“Maya! I can’t believe you actually tried that!” Ayame laughed at Maya who was blushing madly.
“Shut up!”
Shiori smiled. She had made friends with the three girls who were really nice. They accepted her easily and were in fact horrified at her treatment. They were glad that she finally was their friend because they could now protect her. She felt so happy to have such caring friends.
They were all waiting in the lunch line to get their food. Shiori was pulled away from her thoughts when she noticed that her friends were staring at her expectantly.
“So?” Ayame encouraged.
“So what?” Shiori tilted her head to the side in confusion.
The three girls sighed before Ayame decided to repeat her earlier sentence. “Do you like Raiden?” Ayame grinned as Shiori’s face turned cherry red.
“W-what do y-you mean? I only met him today!” She stuttered as her ears burned.
“Oh my God, you do! You two are so meant for each other! It’s so cute when you’re together!” Shana gushed with hearts in her eyes.
Shiori hid her burning face behind her long hair. “He is kind of cute…”
The three girls squealed loudly which caused everyone in the cafeteria to look their way.
“What are you staring at? Get a life people!” Maya yelled at the staring people who quickly went back to whatever they were doing before.
Shana smiled knowingly. “Yes…he is cute, isn’t he?”
“Of course he is!” Shiori bit her lip softly as the words escaped her mouth. Her friends smiled at her widely.
Maya playfully jabbed Shiori in the ribs. “We’re rooting for you guys!” She whispered not so discreetly.
Shiori cheeks flamed up again as her friends winked at her. They all grabbed a blue tray and placed it on the counter.
“Rice and curry please!” Ayame ordered
“Jacket potato with cheese,” was Shana’s order
“Salad…” Was Shiori’s
“Soup with garlic bread.” Maya smiled at the dinner lady.
Once they all got their food, they took their lunches outside into the giant field. The field was a beautiful place. It was large with luscious green grass and tall trees dotted around. It was summer so there were loads of flowers that were in full bloom and it was a lovely sight.
The girls sat under an apple tree and ate their lunch whilst chatting. The sun filtered through the canopy of leaves overhead and created patterns on the soft grass below. Shiori smiled as she ate her salad.
Raiden walked out of the cafeteria with two boys. One boy was quite tall and had chestnut brown hair that flopped into his coal black eyes. The other boy was an average height, a bit shorter than Raiden and the first boy. He had blonde hair with leaf green eyes that sparkled mischievously.
The boys made their way over to the girls who were sitting peacefully under the tree. They had already finished their lunches like Shiori.
“Hey Shiori! Meet Ren”, Raiden gestured to the blonde haired boy, “and Aaron,” he pushed the brown haired boy forward slightly.
