Chapter 7
Shiori walked down the corridor nervously. She glanced at Raiden from the corner of her eyes and blushed slightly as he caught her staring and gave her an adorable smile.
Reaching the door to the room of her maths class, Shiori hesitated before sighing and stepping inside after opening the door. This didn’t go unnoticed by Raiden who furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
Why did she hesitate before going in?
His question was answered as the loud class inside fell silent as soon as they saw Shiori. They stared at her coldly and followed her walk to her seat with their unblinking eyes. Biting his lip, Raiden followed her and sat next to her. Once again the only free seat was next to Shiori.
Why doesn’t anyone sit next to her? As far as I know Shiori is really nice, looks like no one is her friend either.
Raiden watched as Shiori hung her head and kept her gaze firmly on the floor. She looked so sad and lonely. He couldn’t help but feel angry towards her classmates. They had no right to upset Shiori like this. Clenching his fists, Raiden was about to stand up to confront the class but a soft touch to his arm stopped him. Following the slender arm towards its owner he was surprised to see Shiori looking at him beseechingly.
“Please don’t…” she whispered so quietly that he had to strain to hear her voice. He sat back down and covered her tiny delicate hand with his large one.
She looked at him in shock and made to pull away but Raiden tightened his grip, not too tight to hurt her but tight enough so that she couldn’t wrench her hand away. The class had long since lost their interest with Shiori and had gone back to ignoring her after giving Raiden some pitying glances.
Shiori looked into Raiden’s ice blue eyes questioningly. His hand was warm…it felt nice. Somehow she felt protected and safe with him around, it was almost as if he was…her soul mate.
Blushing, Shiori dropped her gaze and looked back at the ground. She was surprised when a gentle hand grasped her chin and pulled her head back up.
Raiden looked into Shiori’s gorgeous ruby red eyes and smiled at her warmly.
“Don’t worry Shiori…I’ll be there for you”, he had no idea what made him say that, seeing as he only met this timid girl an hour ago but somehow he felt a painful tug at his heart when she looked so sad and upset.
He moved his hand so that he could interlace his fingers with hers and firmly gripped her soft hand in his own. Somehow it felt right being around Shiori, it was almost as if he had found a missing piece in his puzzle and now he felt complete.
They both jumped when the door slammed open and the teacher rushed in looking frazzled. Her dirty blonde hair was plastered to her face from the rain outside and her coat was dripping wet. Slipping out of her coat, she draped it across the back of her chair and ran a hand through her hair.
“Right class…I see we are all here…let me just find my notes”, she rummaged through her briefcase before pulling out some papers; “ok let’s begin the lesson.”
Shiori dutifully took notes in her maths book throughout the lesson whilst Mrs Finnegan taught maths to the class. Raiden just watched her, amused, as she furiously scribbled down what the teacher was saying. There really was no point since she already knew this.
She was a genius, always achieving the highest mark in every test she did. She was the smartest student in her school. There really wasn’t much else to do when everyone hated her so she always studied and got excellent grades in hopes of making her family proud. She didn’t want to let down the Namikazes but now she had no such fear because she knew her family loved her.
