Chapter 16
Shiori froze, still in shock over Raiden’s rejection. Her heart had torn in two and she felt like all hope was lost. She hung her head and waited for Onigumo’s attack. She didn’t have to wait long.
She grimaced as the sword pierced through her stomach. Blood dripped steadily from her wound as she stood there, hands by her side; she wasn’t going to stop Onigumo anymore. What was the point? Her family was dead, Raiden hated her and she was a monster. There was nothing more to it.
“So you’ve given up?” Onigumo smirked at Shiori before twisting his head around to look at Raiden. “Thank you Raiden, without you, she wouldn’t have broken!”
Raiden’s eyes widened as he realised what he had just done. Shiori was hurt because of him. What right did he have to judge her?
She had a very good reason for what she did. Onigumo had killed her family, hurt her friends and was about to sacrifice him. Of course she would want to kill him! He was a lousy boyfriend. His eyes blurred with tears.
This is my fault. I’ve hurt her!
He looked at Shiori who was just standing there with a blank expression on her face. Her uniform was stained with blood and the sword in her stomach looked really painful.
Onigumo wrenched the sword out of Shiori and she crumpled to the floor. “No Shiori!” The words tore out of his throat as he watched his girlfriend fall to the floor.
Onigumo looked at Shiori in disappointment. “I thought you’d put up more of a fight but I guess this is what love can do to you!” With a sigh, he raised his sword above his head and brought it down. It went through Shiori’s back and buried into the ground underneath her, effectively pinning her down.
“Now stay there until I have finished sacrificing your boyfriend to Satan!” Onigumo left his sword and walked towards Raiden who was tied to the cross. Onigumo reached into his coat pocket and brought out a jewelled dagger.
He stood in front of Raiden and smirked darkly. “When I’ve killed you my Lord will rise and claim your body! Once that happens he will gift me with immortality as he walks freely upon this Earth!” Onigumo grinned crazily.
“He can only walk on Earth in a human body and you’re perfect. Shiori will be his servant and he will use her powers to create a perfect world!” Onigumo raised his hands, laughing as he envisioned the future he was talking about.
Raiden struggled to get out of the chains. He had to get to Shiori and see if she was alright. He had to apologise before it was too late!
Raiden winced as the chains dug into his skin, drawing blood.
“Where do you think you’re trying to go?” Onigumo asked playfully. He tapped Raiden’s chest with the dagger before dragging it down Raiden’s shirt, tearing it in two. Raiden glared at Onigumo defiantly.
“Oh still not scared are you?” Onigumo stabbed the dagger into Raiden’s shoulder and enjoyed his pained scream. “That’s right Raiden! Fear me!”
Shiori’s ears twitched as they caught Raiden’s pain filled scream. A dormant instinct from within her awoke.
Her eyes snapped open, they glowed a brilliant purple. “Leave my mate alone!”
Shiori placed a hand on the ground and used that to push herself off the floor. The sword in her back fell out and clattered to the floor. Her wounds instantly faded, leaving her looking healthy and ready for battle.
Her mark started glowing purple and a fierce wind surrounded her body. Her hair whipped around her dangerously as she glared at Onigumo murderously.
She stalked towards him and with each step she took the more power that blasted out of her, forcing Onigumo onto his knees. He looked up at her in awe. She looked powerful like the true heir of the Namikazes. She looked terrifying!
