Chapter 9

“Thank you!” Shiori smiled at the kind nurse who had treated her injuries.

The older woman grinned. “Be careful Shiori! It’s nice that you have such a caring boyfriend to look out for you. Congratulations both of you!”

Shiori and Raiden blushed before shyly holding hands which made the older woman sigh as she remembered the days when she had a man in her life. The couple in front of her reminded her of the time when she and her husband were in love before he died. Good times…she smiled warmly as the young couple walked out of her office hand in hand.

The next two lessons seemed to pass in a blur for Shiori. She had history then biology and Raiden sat next to her in both classes. It was now the end of the school day. She started packing up her books.

She picked her full bag up and slung it over her shoulder before glancing over at Raiden who was still packing his books away. She started to help and was given a grateful smile from her boyfriend…she loved saying boyfriend. It made her feel so happy that she had someone who liked her enough to protect her.

“Can I walk you home?” Raiden gazed at Shiori, waiting for an answer.

Shiori nodded.

Raiden grinned and grasped her hand gently before picking his bag up and walking them both out of the school building.

They both talked about random topics. Family, life, favourite food and things like that.

“Your brother actually tried to flirt and the girl ran away screaming! Wow…fail!” Raiden laughed.

Shiori giggled. “Yes and he had no idea what happened!”

They both laughed before Shiori froze. Raiden noticed immediately. “What’s wrong?”

Shiori raised a trembling hand and pointed behind Raiden. Slowly he turned and came face to face with…Arashi.

Arashi’s eyebrow was twitching in annoyance and he had a scowl etched onto his face. “Shiori…it’s nice to see you talking to your…friend.”

Shiori laughed nervously, wringing her hands together.

“Especially when the topic that you two so happen to be discussing is about me! Who gave you the right to talk about my awesome attempt at flirting?”

Raiden stared at the tall boy in bewilderment. So he’s the brother that sucks at flirting. A cheeky grin spread across his face. “Hey man! I can’t believe you failed at asking out a girl.

Raiden slapped Arashi’s back playfully and ran to Shiori before grasping her hands in his.

“I have the kindest, prettiest girl as my girlfriend.” Raiden gazed into Shiori’s eyes with love. She turned a cherry red at his intense gaze.

Arashi looked at Shiori then Raiden in shock. “You’re both together?”

Raiden and Shiori nodded.

Arashi growled which made Shiori flinch. Was he not happy for her? Her eyes started to well up with tears.

“I can’t believe it! My little sister got together with someone before me!”

Shiori blinked in surprise. That’s what he was so worked up over? She sighed.

Raiden glanced at Shiori in amusement as Arashi continued to rant about the injustice of it all in the background. Shiori rolled her eyes before going and patting Arashi on the back.
