Many say getting to go into the Hunger Games is a honor, but I think differently. I wouldn't even be here if my brother hadn't got reaped. He was only 12, and I wasn't going to let him die. So, I volunteered. I really don't care about winning, or even trying to survive. I'm not going to kill if I can help it, but I am going to try my best at survival skills and get in an alliance so I can help someone go home. The second day of training, I meet the others who Josh said we are in an alliance with. I've been watching them. Taylor is very good with swords, maces, and close - ranged weapons. Abby is good with bows, spears, and far - ranged weapons. Josh isn't good at much, besides knives, but he is the only one who will say more than four words, and he is our leader. With all that and my survival skills, we will be a force to be reckoned with. As we meet, we discuss who else we want to join us. Taylor nominates Jadynn, the girl from 12, she says she's very strong and can help us. Abby says we need Alyson, the girl from 11, who is small, and looks much younger than her age of 15, so she will bring in sponsors. We go up to them and offer them the chance to join us. They agree and our group grows. As we leave I approach Abby. "Hi", I say. "What do you want?" She responds. I'm not quite sure what to say. "Well, we are allies, aren't we, I thought maybe we should get to know each other." I eventually mumble. She stares at me for a moment before saying, "Statistically speaking, one of us will be dead within a day, both of us within a week, and the " alliance" will disband within 2 weeks. I see no reason to get to know each other or be friends. If you want friends, try district seven." As she storms off, I begin to question how good of an idea this is.
