AN- I'm releasing my pent up energy today by writing. I wasn't able to jog this morning because it was raining. Ugh! I hate tropical storms. Hiya @Mangoberrylicious! Check out her profile for an amazing story "The Nerd and I"

Damien’s POV

We were safe but we were in trouble at the same time. Fortunately, the car only skidded to a junk heap at the side of the road which blasted out the back tires. Unfortunately a police car caught up to us and Miki and I couldn’t escape easily.

For one thing Miki was still unconscious, cradled in Marco’s arms. The idiot was sitting on the ground beside my beat up car and was whimpering as he caressed Miki’s cheeks. If the hormonal werewolf hadn’t tried to mark Miki on the highway, (at 80 miles per hour!) we wouldn’t be in this predicament.

I had my own problems coming from another werewolf whimpering behind me. I was out of Kirk’s reach and he was acting like a puppy that had its favorite toy taken away. I ignored him as I focused on the newcomer.

The fates must really hate me as I’m now facing the policeman that pulled over. It was Beta Lucas and he was in a pissy mood as he surveyed the scene. A throbbing pain started to drum in my forehead. I sighed and turned around to walk to my car.

“Get back here!” Lucas shouted at me, using every bit of power in his voice as a Beta to make me obey. Betas can also shout commands that would have werewolves obeying him and it’s almost as strong as the Alpha voice. I shrugged it off easily and continued walking towards my car leaving Lucas with his mouth set in a tight snarl.

I pulled the passenger door open and snorted at Lucas’ direction. Popping open the dashboard, I grabbed one of my chocolate drinks. I needed something to relax me before I faced Lucas and two other policemen behind him who I presume were gamma werewolves.

Gamma werewolves were technically guards or soldiers of the pack. They often occupy law enforcement positions and were headed by the Gamma prime, a position almost as important as the Alpha and Beta.

I wasn’t in the mood to tussle with gammas. Tipping my choco drink in one gulp, I tossed the empty container back in the dashboard. Mom always wants those back, no sense in wasting money to buy new containers. I thought about the chocolate drink that I left behind in the cafeteria after slamming into Kirk during lunch. Mom will be chewing me for losing that one.

“I should be arresting you, you arrogant pup!” Lucas glared at me.

“Oh please do,” I sassed at him. “But then you’d have to arrest Marco, he’s the one who endangered us all by almost raping my friend on the highway.” Marco hung his head in embarrassment as I continued. “And if you arrest me, a passenger then you’d have to arrest Kirk- I mean Matthew too.” Kirk was now looking at me with a puzzled expression. I ignored him as I returned Lucas’ glare.

Lucas and I had a staring match. I refuse to back down even if I was an outcast wolf.

“Lucas, stop it!” Kirk glared at the Beta as he strode to my side. I moved a foot away from him as stealthily as I could. Kirk only looked at me with a faint hurt and puzzled expression.

Kirk only sighed as he assumed an authoritative stance. “Rogues were after Marco and me. Luckily we were saved by Miki and Damien.” Okay, he twisted his words a bit but it wasn’t an entire lie. Lucas’ cheeks tinged slightly pink and he had the grace to look a bit remorseful. Lucas isn’t really a bad guy, he’s a fair Beta preferring to look at both sides before making judgments.

Lucas ran a gloved hand through his sandy blond hair. He was an imposing figure, almost seven foot tall and as wide as a truck. How his male mate, a five foot five doctor with slight frame keeps up with him is a mystery to most of the pack. Former pack, I remind myself.

“Matt,” Lucas let out his pent up breath. “There’s a meeting going on and only Adrian came back.”

Kirk stood his ground while giving me a sideways glance. “I know about that but there was… an important thing for me to attend to.”

I snorted at his white lie. Or was it really a white lie? Am I really important to him? The bitter taste of leftover chocolate in my mouth reminded me that he’s probably not my mate. That I’m only feeling a regular infatuation, puppy love if you will, for Kirk.

It’s better if I break off whatever contact I have with Kirk before I get really hurt. Chances are, as an Alpha, he’d have an awesome werewolf as a mate. Someone who isn’t an outcast, someone who’s a ‘normal’ werewolf, and someone who would be able to give him the heirs he needs. I couldn’t compete with that. I clenched my jaw refusing to let any emotion show on my face.

“And I’ve made my decision.” Kirk said to Lucas. “I’ve decided that Marco will be my Gamma prime.”  This brought Marco’s head up. There was a mixture of relief and disappointment on his face. Gamma prime wasn’t the Beta position after all. There’s no inheritance of powers, Gamma prime was just a title.

The gammas behind Lucas snickered. Looks like they were looking forward to having Marco as their leader. Marco just glowered at them as he held Miki tightly in his arms. Where the heck is that ambulance? I already checked Miki’s injuries and as far as I could tell, she only fainted. She might just have a small bump at the back of her head though. I was rambling inside my head now, trying to distract myself at the inevitable. With Kirk’s choice of Gamma prime, that left his choice for Beta.

I sneaked a sideways glance at Kirk. He was looking at me with a blank expression before continuing his conversation with Lucas.

“I’ve also chosen my Beta.”

Lucas tilted his head as he regarded the Alpha heir inherent. “And who would that be?” Wary curiosity plastered across his face.

“Adrian.”

For some reason my heart lurched and a painful feeling bloomed in my chest.

AN – Wookay, I was a bit teary eyed at the end after writing this.

Wow, I’ve written several chapters for this already! I’m amazed at how writing in different POV reflects the personality of my characters. I was scared that everything would be monotonous and that readers won’t be able to differentiate one character from the other.

If you’d notice, Damien tends to take his surroundings and over analyze things. Kirk speaks his heart out and Miki is pretty much ADHD. I only noticed it just now. Damien's jokes tend to by dry sarcasm, Kirk's playful and Miki downright lewd.

Do comment, vote, share and everything! I’m always inspired to write chapters after getting feedback from you guys.
