*There was a legend about the well in the garden.* People said that if you dropped a coin into its mysterious waters, and if you were worthy, you would begin the adventure of your life. But, if you weren't, a curse would fall upon your entire family. These repercussions kept wandering knights away for many years, until one decided to put his honor to the test.

The young prince was named Roman. He was seventh in line for the throne in the Sanders Kingdom. He knew he had next to no chance of becoming king, so he would have to be noticed another way. That was when he found out about the well. He was walking with his oldest brother Logan and his boyfriend Patton. Logan's coronation was next year and, when he was old enough, Logan planned to wed Patton and they would lead together.

As the three walked through the gardens, Roman told the couple of his want for glory. Patton quickly recalled the many fables of the well, and eagerly told Roman, much to Logan's dismay. As a protective older brother, Logan wanted Roman nowhere near the well and made sure that Roman knew that. Instantly, Patton began apologizing to Logan for his mistake, Logan trying to console him. As the two sorted it out, Roman wandered off.

He knew that Logan was right. The well was dangerous, especially in a family that could cause such a big impact on the kingdom. If the Sanders dynasty became cursed, it could very well mean the end of their rule. With that decision, Roman headed back to the palace and up to his room. With gold curtains draping the windows and a plush red carpet across the floor, every inch of Roman's room screamed royalty. Roman flopped on his bed and groaned, frustrated.

After an hour of brainstorming for another way to leave his mark on the kingdom, Roman ultimately decided that the well was the only solution. So as the sun began to set, the prince began to prepare for the journey of his life. He quickly packed rations from the palace kitchens and put on his suit of armor along with his trusty sword on his hip.

As the moon and stars rose, Roman snuck into the stables to retrieve his stallion. The horse was a brilliant white, groomed to perfection. When the animal saw Roman creep into his stall, it whinnied softly, almost as if it knew secrecy was important. Once Roman tacked up the horse, he set out into the night.

TIME SKIP

It had been three days since Roman had left home, and he was beginning to feel the tolls of adventure. His rations had dwindled so much, he only had enough to last one more day. But as he and his horse trudged up a hill, Roman caught sight of a village. The small stone houses and a flowering path sprawled across the hills. Even from afar, Roman could tell the town was teeming with life. Wild animals such as rabbits frolicked on the outskirts, young children ran screaming with joy within. Men and women alike worked together, rounding up the kids, harvesting the crops, every one of them smiling.

With a cheer, Roman set off at a full gallop for the town. Upon his arrival, people smiled and greeted him kindly. He asked if they knew of the well and was ushered to a slightly larger house than the others. A young man came out and Roman's heart skipped a beat.

Dressed in all black, the man looked the same age as the prince. When he came out, the villagers begged him to tell Roman about the well. The man tried to back into the house but an old lady came out from behind him and scolded him.

"Virgil!" She said in a shrill voice. "You will help Prince Roman!" When she said Roman's name he gasped.

"H-how did you know my name?" He inquired, wondering how far news of his escape had spread.

"She knows everything," the young man, Virgil, muttered.

"That's right," the woman agreed. She ushered Virgil closer to Roman. "Now, help him for goodness sakes!" She said before shutting the door promptly. The other villagers, excited with the fact they were in the presence of a prince, quickly began asking Roman question. Being quickly overwhelmed, Virgil cowered away. Roman noticed this and gently, but firmly, asked the villagers to leave. They obeyed and Roman went to check on Virgil.
