Top pic is edited by moi😊 it's from 'Batman White knight #2'"To what do I owe the honor?"
The silence crept up upon my pale skin, tingling it's way around my body. His gaze only intensified piercing though my sinning soul.
"So from what I'm getting you called me here just to stare at me?" I chuckled trying to get comfortable in my seat, "you know I could of just sent you a gift card Bats."
No words from him, I tilted my head grinning and sighing heavily in desperation. "If you don't wanna talk then I shall get going." I told him.
As I stood up and tried to make my way towards the metal door his raspy voice stopped me. "Congratulations."
I turned on my heels to face him. "What?"
His expression didn't waver, still the grumpy ol' man that he was.
"Congratulations." He repeated only this time he made his way toward me, extending his had for me to shake.
"I heard you the first time." Enthusiastically I took his hand in mine, shaking it violently. After some time I still didn't let go, I could tell he felt disturbed by the whole ordeal but I knew he was hiding something. I could feel it.
"Let go." He stated
"Or what?" My smile grew extending to a unrealistic size.
"I'll break your hand."
"Try me." My eyes twinkled with demise and mischief for this man. He was wonderful and exciting in so many ways, it was the only reason I ever tried to get his attention. He moved Gotham in ways I never could so I resorted to crime. She was a dull city after all, full of crime and dirt including the worst scum of the earth that populated her.
His body stiffened but he proceeded to do what he had promised. It only took one move and I was squirming and laughing from the pain he inflicted on me. "Oh- you like to play rough!"
He growled pushing my body away from him, my back hitting the wall with such force I felt limp.
"Batsy, Batsy, Basty...disregarding the rules are we? Or did you just forget that man handling inmates was a no no?"
My head hung low as I stared at the ground, thankfully my arm was still intact. He lied.
"Stay down." He ordered
"But where's the fun in that?" My head snapped upwards watching his form topple over me. Instead of standing up myself I was brought to my feet and shoved into a chair.
"We need to talk."
"Right! Right! I knew you'd only come and see me when something was wrong, sad really...I though we had a deeper understanding of our relationship than this-"
"Shut up and listen."
I swung my legs back and forth. "Yes sir!"
"Whilst you were in Arkham things went south."
"Do tell me more..." my sonar rose and I lent forward on the table.
"You're no longer in control out there, the time you spent with Harleen changed a lot and I don't like it. Gotham is in danger and-"
"Why should it matter to me?" I shrugged leaning back on my chair, "Chaos is my kind of party."
"Gotham is not only my city, yours too and soon it will perish. I'm sure like most crazies you would want to do that yourself and not watch how it crumbles under someone else."
"So who's the mystery person?" I tucked my hands behind my back feeling more relaxed than ever.
"I can't tell you that."
Anger flushed through me making me jump up slamming my hands on the metal desk. "How do you expect me to help if I don't know who the girl or guy is?!"
He didn't say anything just stood there watching me, trying to predict my next move.
"Just tell me if it's a man or a woman or whatever." I said trying my luck.
"A man. A man that thought to be dead."
"So a ghost?" I chuckled, "y'see I don't believe in that sort of nonsense and I'm no way near a ghost buster. Maybe you can ask Crane to help you? He's paranoid enough to see things like that."
"But I chose you."
"Why did you bats? Why now? When everything is going according to plan you have to come in with your gloomy attitude and ruin everything!"
"Because it involves Harley."
My breathing stopped.
Harley?
What on earth did she have to do with this? She was on the inside with me since the beginning, unless...
"Who are you?" I quipped
"What?"
"Who are you under that mask?" My interests were perked
"A man."
"No no no, you can't just say that, you've gotta be some kind of a special man!"
"You don't even want to know why Harley is involved?" The detective had to question everything.
"Nope." I smiled, "but I do want to know how the heck does she know who you are!"
"She doesn't." His breathing gave him away
"Don't lie to me! Not now!" My hand found its way to may hair as I struggled to keep my composure.
"I'm not lying."
"Bats, we have a long lasting relationship so do you really think I can't tell when you're not telling the truth?"
He stayed silent only admitting my suspicions.
"So why is Harley involved?"
"It has something to do with her past."
My laugh probably alerted the guards which made them come inside and grab me. As they dragged me out of the room I gave him one last glare "I don't care who you are under that mask, not really! But stay the fuck away from my family!"
I was discarded onto the floor of the hallways my face making contact with the cold ground.
Smiling I propped myself up only to hear shrilling screams that made me alert. I followed them only to find that I was in front of Harley's cell.
"Puddin!" She cried tears brimming at the corners of her eyes.
Sweat travelled down her face, her small hands clenching her jumpsuit until her knuckles turned white.
"What's going on pumpkin?!" All the extra thoughts about Batman were diminished when I saw what state she was in.
"Lucy...she's on her way!" She cried
