Ch. 14 Dark Side

“I can’t!” I said, terror crossing over my face.

Ellie raised and eyebrow. “Come on, it’s only one more step and you’ll be in Hollywood. Seriously, if you’re not stepping off the plane I’m leaving without you.’

My eyes widened. “You wouldn’t! You can’t!”

“Watch me!” Ellie taunted, starting to walk down the passageway that led into the airport. People brushed by us and gave us curious looks, but I ignored them. “Your mom wants you to be here, and I bet Liam will too once we find him.”

Throughout the whole entire week I had built up the courage to ask Ellie to go with me to see Liam, and over the duration of the plane ride I had explained to her everything. Who Alex Sheppard really was, who he was, and everything else.

“No, no, no!” I whisper-shouted. “What happens if he’s different now and hates me or something?”

Ellie rolled her eyes, for once being the rational one out of the both of us. “Just now on the plane ride you told me that he confessed his love for you! And besides, it’s only been a week since you last saw him. I’m pretty sure he couldn’t have changed that much.”

“But what happens if he finally realizes that he’s way above me in the reputation ladder?” I said.

Ellie sighed. “Well, you know Liam better than I do. I’m sure he doesn’t care about that.”

“But what happens if Taylor is there, and she forces us to leave?” I insisted.

“I’ll make sure she doesn’t do that.” Ellie dismissed.

“But—”

“No more “buts”, missy!” Ellie shouted. The flight attendant glanced at us, narrowed her eyes, and then went back to ushering people outside. She snatched my hand and dragged me into the airport.

“Ellie!” I whined, struggling against her while still trying to balance my backpack on my shoulder.

“Let’s go to baggage claim and pick up our luggage.” Ellie said, and finally let go of me. I stood up and scowled at her. My best friend smirked at my expression and said, “Seriously, Keegan. We’re going to be fine. Do you know Liam’s new address?”

I nodded wearily. “My mom called Liam’s parents and they told us.”

“Then off we go!” Ellie said, and together we made our way to pick up our suitcases.

“This place is freaking amazing.” I muttered.

“Definitely,” Ellie agreed as we stared out the window.

Beverly Hills was most certainly the fanciest place I’d ever been to. Pristine, whitewashed buildings, sleek and cool cars, celebrities in designer clothing with shopping bags and trademark sunglasses as well as purse pooches filled the whole of the place. Right now we were at a stoplight, so Ellie and I took the chance at checking the whole entire place out.

“What was the address again, miss?” the cab driver inquired politely. I handed him the slip with Liam’s address on it, and we were off yet again.

After driving around some more, we finally reached Liam Sheppard’s new house. And boy must I say, it looked freaking awesome.

There was one huge tangerine building with an enormous garden in front, complete with a little mini river, paths, trimmed shrubbery and everything. Little white umbrellas stood over tables and over to my right there was a wide balcony that overlooked the whole thing. Below the balcony where three little arches that led to three separate rooms. From here I could hear music blasting from the back yard, followed by a loud squeal and splashes. A pool, I assumed.
