Ch. 19 So What

“Remind me how you got an All-Access Pass to this movie set, again?”

Chris grinned. “I’ve driven Liam and the others to this place before, so they gave me one escort them in and out.”

I nodded. “Cool. Does anyone see Taylor or Liam yet?”

Ellie looked around, grinning. “There!”

Liam and a guy in his mid-forties were talking, both of them holding huge, thick scripts. Liam smiled politely as the guy—who I assumed was the director—continued talking.

“What’s the movie called?” I asked Chris.

He shrugged. “I don’t remember, but I know what it’s about.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Well?” I prompted.

“Oh, right. It’s about a boy—played by Liam—who thinks he’s never going to be loved. He goes to this kind of fancy ball that a rich girl is holding, and there he meets a very captivating girl. The boy doesn’t know who she is because she wears a mask, but falls in love with her at the ball. The boy—I think his name in the movie is Jake—goes back home, wondering who the mysterious girl was. Then during school hours the mysterious girl pulls Jake into a dark closet, and talks to him.  When Jake turns on the light, she’s gone. So basically, he finds out that the mysterious girl is actually the rich girl who threw the fancy ball at the beginning of the movie, and disguised herself because she was afraid of what Jake might have thought if he found out her true identity. They kiss, and movie ends.”

“Who’s playing the mysterious girl?” I asked.

Chris pointed at a slim brunette standing close by, staring at the script. So she was the girl who was going to be playing Liam’s love interest. A small stab of jealousy ran through me, but I quickly pushed it away. No, I didn’t envy the girl whatsoever. I refused to have feelings for Liam.

“You seem to know what you’re talking about,” Ellie remarked, grinning up at Chris.

He returned the smile. “Yeah, well, I’ve been here enough to even memorize some of the lines.”

I nodded, impressed, when a idea popped into my head. I suddenly grabbed his hand and dragged him around to the back of the set. I turned to Chris. “Just stay here and keep watch, okay? The signal will be three hoots.”

“Wait, what?” Chris asked. A puzzled expression was slapped onto his face. “What are you talking about? What are we doing here, Keegan?”

I sighed impatiently. “I’m sorry, but I just need to find Liam and talk to him for a little bit, all right. His dressing room is right down the hall, right?”

Chris nodded. “How did you know?”

I raised my eyebrow. “There was a sign.”

“Oh, right.” Chris said, blushing. I felt a smile creep up on my face because the boy looked so darn cute. I pecked on the cheek as my thanks, causing his cheeks to turn a violent shade of red. I let out a short laugh and nodded to him, creeping down the hall.

It was time to get some answers from Liam.
