Ch. 29 Sparks Fly
Music blared on all sides of me, nearly blasting all of my hearing away. On the main dance floor of the gym, teenagers in dresses and suits were grinding on each other like there was no tomorrow. A few loners and socially awkward people sat alone at the tables around the room. I, sadly, was one of them. I wasn’t even dressed in a dress. I mean, there had to be something very wrong with me if I wore a Nyan Cat t-shirt and a black skirt to homecoming. Ellie suddenly popped up in front of me out of nowhere, dressed in a pretty black dress. Tyler Karsol’s arm was draped around her waist, which seemed to be nearing her butt. Ellie didn’t even seem to mind the sleazy touching as she got up in my face and yelled, “Keegan! I’m so glad you came!”
I frowned at her. “What are you talking about? I carpooled with Tyler and you here!” It was then that I suddenly caught the strong whiff of alcohol in her breath. I raised an eyebrow. “Ellie, did you drink the juice they were serving?”
“Yeah! Tyler brought me some, why?” she asked, her words slightly slurred. I turned to glare at Tyler. Asshole. Really, the jerk was getting my best friend drunk to get laid?
“It was spiked.” I said angrily, grabbing and yanking her away from Tyler.
“Hey!” he protested.
“You are not giving my friend STDs.” I said firmly.
He rolled his eyes. “Come on! It was just for fun. When did you get so confident that you could back talk me? What happened to sweet, virgin Keegan?”
I literally wanted to castrate the guy. I gritted my teeth and said, “That’s none of your business. And I became confident when I realized that I didn’t need all of you jocks to bully and treat my friends and I like crap. So go screw yourself.”
I towed Ellie away to the other side of the gym and sat her down on a chair.
“Where’s Tyler?” she frowned at me, poking my noise. “Did you kill him?”
I sighed. “As much as I would like to, no. Just ditch Tyler. He wasn’t worth it anyway. Oh, and don’t drink the juice.”
“Okay,” she smiled goofily at me and suddenly wandered off to the dance floor, where she began to randomly pelvic thrust a guy. I shook my head and sighed again. That girl was going to end up doing something very, very dangerous and stupid one day.
I rested my head on the table and watched the couples suddenly stop grinding each other and dance elegantly to the slow music. Even Ellie had stopped her pelvic thrusts to sway with the guy she’d been trying to hump.
A sudden tap on my shoulder brought me out of my reverie. I looked behind, and to my evident surprise Liam Sheppard stood before me. He was dressed in a casual white collared shirt with nice black pants. I have to admit, he looked extremely hot. He gave me a tentative grin and suddenly took my hand, hauling me to my feet.
“I know that you probably deserve to be with someone better than me, but would now be a good time to take you out on that date?” he asked.
“After you ditched me in the mall a couple of days ago? No.” I said, yanking my hand way from him.
“I was attacked!” he exclaimed.
“You’re a movie star!” I hissed, crossing my arms. “You can’t go around showing off your hot face in public places and not expect to be jumped by fan girls!”
He suddenly smirked. “You think my face is hot?”
“Maybe,” I scowled at him. “But I’m still not going out on a date with you.”
