Ch. 21 Clocks
All right, so I admit it.
The kiss wasn’t an accident.
And this time, it was me who initiated it.
I’m not sure why I decided to kiss Chris. Maybe it was because he was so sweet and kind. Maybe it was because he wasn’t a jerk like Liam Sheppard. Maybe because he had asked me out on a date of sorts.
Or maybe it was because I wanted to make Liam jealous.
I immediately discarded the thought. No way. No way did I want to make Liam Sheppard jealous. That was just stupid. Besides, thinking about making Liam jealous meant I had feelings for him. And I most certainly did not.
Or did I?
I nearly slammed my head against the nearest wall. There must be something wrong with my brain if I was thinking thoughts like that.
Right, so back to Chris.
I pulled away, smiling sheepishly. I observed his red face. “Uh, sorry.”
“Oh no! Y-you don’t h-have to apol-apologize.” Chris stuttered, surprised. “I’m just…in shock, you know. I’ve never been k-kissed before, so…”
“Me neither.” I lied, smiling timidly. “But, yeah. Can you pick me up tomorrow at seven for the masquerade ball?”
“S-sure.” He said, eyes wide.
My smile widened. “Thanks. I’m going to go find Ellie, so I’ll see you.”
“Uh…yeah. I’ll pick you guys later with Liam and Taylor.” He said, blinking. I waved him good-bye and strutted off to find my best friend.
I was very surprised with myself, to say the least. I had never been so smooth with a guy before, especially after I had just kissed him.
I found Ellie standing to side, watching as the scene began. I gave her a small wave as I stood beside her and looked on.
Liam strutted forward through the hallway of a set of the school, looking deep in thought. An actor that was playing his friend met up with him by a locker, greeting Liam with a smile.
“Hey! Haven’t seen you since that ball yesterday! Where did you go?” the actor said, leaning casually against the lockers.
Liam shrugged, his fingers twitching nervously at his sides. He gave a forced smile—one that probably looked real to the camera, though—and said, “My, uh, mom picked me up early.”
“What about Mary? Wasn’t she your date for the ball? What happened to her?” the actor asked, his eyebrows arched.
Another shrug. “I don’t know. She ditched me for some guy.”
“Ah. Shame.” A fake bell rung, signaling that class was just about to begin. The actor kid waved a good bye to Liam, and casually strutted off the set. Liam went the opposite direction, passing a janitor’s closet. The door suddenly whipped open, and a hand stretched out, yanking Liam inside.
