Ch. 31 The Story of Us

“Keegan, you still haven’t handed me in your story and PowerPoint.” Mr. Sur, my Creative Writing teacher told me.

I paled slightly. I’d totally forgotten about it. So much had happened that I’d completely lost track of all my homework, and this project was definitely crucial to me passing the class.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Sur. I’ll…I’ll try and hand it into you by the end of the week.” I said.

Mr. Sur raised an eyebrow. “All right. I hope you won’t rush into it, Keegan. Because you are one of my best students, I expect that it will be an excellent story. You may leave, now.”

I nodded and exited the classroom, into the empty hall. As I walked to my next class, I couldn’t help but wonder what, exactly, my story was going to be about.

It had been just yesterday that I’d actually admitted to myself that I was falling in love with Liam Sheppard. Whether or not I wanted to voice this epiphany to Liam was what I was still mulling over. After all, there were still things to consider. His career, for one. School. Would we ever have time for each other, was the question. Would we stay in love?

Maybe I could write my story about that.

But would it be too long? I wasn’t sure. I wondered if Mr. Sur would actually let me write it.

I stopped in my tracks and turned around, deciding to actually ask Mr. Sur. I was practically already fifteen minutes late for my next class, so I guessed the teacher wouldn’t mind waiting a little more.

I dashed back to the Creative Writing class, where I found Mr. Sur typing diligently at his computer.

“Mr. Sur?” I asked, slipping inside. He looked up, slightly surprised at my presence.

                “Yes, Keegan?”

“I had an idea for my story, but I think it’s going to be really long,” I said. “Do you think I could make it more than ten pages that the guideline said?”

He considered it. “I don’t think I would want to read such a troubling long story…”

“Please, Mr. Sur.” I said, swallowing back my desperation. “It’s really the only idea I’ve got.”

Mr. Sur sighed. “All right. How about this? You make the fifteen slide Power Point and present it in two weeks for finals, and on the day that you present your Power Point hand in the story to me. I will try and finish it by the grading deadline.”
