Just a warning; some of this could be triggering and if you're all anti-self-harm, then don't read it 'cause I don't want bullshit saying I didn't warn you.
Self-harm isn't a disease. Stop staring at people with scars like their contagious. Self-hatred isn't contagious. Don't stare at people with scars like they're nothing; like they're stupid; like they're attention seeking; like they're disgusting; like they're worthless; like you hate them. 'Cause chances are, they've been through shit that you could never even imagine. They've probably done things that they don't want to ever remember. They've probably had a shit life. So they hurt themselves. It's not a good thing. But don't label it as a bad thing. If anything, it's misunderstood. If it was an 'attention seeking plot' then why the fuck would people try so hard to cover their cuts or scars? If they wanted people's sympathy wouldn't they leave their scars open for everyone to see and tell them how sorry they are for them? But no, self-harmers hide everything because everyone knows that as soon as someone sees the marks on your wrist, you're going to be labelled and judged as the pathetic emo kid that wants the spotlight. There are better ways to get attention; ways that aren't painful and don't leave permanent words on your body. Nobody voluntarily hurts themselves just to get attention for a few minutes. And besides, everyone knows that the only attention you're going to get from it, is bad attention. Everyone knows that as soon as they see what you've done to yourself you're going to get humiliated and called things. It's not for attention. It's personal. And you wouldn't understand a fucking thing unless you've gone through it.
