I walked the kitchen, following the shouting voices down there.
What was Aileen doing now? That girl was like a tornado. Wrecking havoc everywhere she goes.
"What's your problem?!" I heard her shout in anger from downstairs.
As we hurried down the steps, I cast a glance at Carson with my eyebrow raised.
He shrugged, and we focused on the voices as we walked down the last of the stairs.
"Are you sick or lonely or something?!" Aileen continued, sounding furious.
"Yes!" Jacob yelled back. "Both of those! What's your problem?!"
"Well right now it's YOU!"
"Stop yelling at me!"
"No, YOU stop!"
"NO YOU STOP!"
"NO, YOU STOP!"
"NOOOOOOOO, YYYYOOUUU-"
"Both of you stop!" Carson yelled as we finally reached them.
They were standing in front of the counter, glaring daggers at each other with their fists clenched.
I wasn't sure what Jacob could've done to make her so angry, but Aileen looked terrifying.
"What's going on here?" Carson demanded.
Aileen immediately pointed a finger at Jacob. "It was his fault."
"Now what did you do?" Carson complained at Jacob, who was looking a little red in the face.
"Nothing!" Jacob objected, throwing his hands up in the air in exasperation. "It was all her!"
"Oh, save your breath!" Aileen retorted. "You'll probably need it to blow up your next date!"
"Stop, both of you," I cut in. "What happened?"
"We were just sitting here talking, and everything was going fine! But, he just HAD to go and mess everything up! All was well, until he tried to touch me!" Aileen accused, growing madder by the second.
"You had scone on your shirt!" He protested. "I was trying to help!"
"Well next time don't!" She scowled. "You don't even wanna know about the last time someone tried to touch me."
"You're right on that account," Jacob agreed.
"I can't deal with this anymore," Aileen complained. "I need a new Kidnapper."
I perked up. "Are we switching? Because if we are, I want Jacob."
Carson was fine, but the nervous feeling I got near him really wasn't helping anything.
Jacob beamed. "Ladies, don't fight over me."
"Who's fighting?" Aileen scoffed. "You can have him."
Carson laughed out loud as Jacob scowled at the floor.
"No wait," I said, walking over, my mind already spinning over an idea. "That sounds perfect! Jacob can just watch me for a while, and Carson watch Aileen."
Everyone exchanged looks with each other, and I could see the wheels turning in their heads.
I was pretty sure we were all sick of each other.
"Fine with me," said Carson.
"Ok," said Jacob.
"Sure!" said Aileen.
"Then it's settled," I decided. "I'll go with Jacob, and Aileen goes with Carson."
"Wait," Carson said, "What if I miss you?"
I rolled my eyes. "Then deal with it."
He pretended to be hurt by this, but everyone else seemed pretty content with my idea.
"This is only for a day, right?" Jacob asked.
"Unless we enjoy it," Aileen smiled blissfully, probably already imagining her days without Jacob.
"What are you trying to say?" Jacob demanded, sounding distressed.
"What do you think?!" She shot back.
"Calm down, both of you," I intervened, putting my hands up. "This is exactly why we need a break, sooner or later, someone's going to kill someone."
"Not to give you guys any ideas or anything," Aileen quickly added.
"Fine," Carson frowned. "Aileen, this way. The cool kid party is upstairs."
"The party's for cool kids?" I asked, cocking my head. "But aren't you going?"
He shot me a glare and began to walk upstairs without waiting for her.
Aileen flashed me a happy smile before turning to follow him.
"Well we don't need you anyway!" Jacob called after them.
Then he turned to me with a smile and newfound excitement in his eyes.
"Let's get this party started!" He cheered.
Oh boy.
