"Steve?" I spoke aloud in the quiet air.
It was silent.
I must be going crazy.
With new resolve, I went back over to the computer, pulled out the chair, and sat down.
Two can play at this game.
My fingers flew across the keyboard, typing furiously.
Whoever you are, I have just one question. Why on earth do you have time to sneak into people's apartments and mess their computers? Maybe try getting a life, then maybe you won't be so bitter.
Then I turned it off and climbed back into bed.
5:36am
Suddenly, a loud noise woke me.
I shot up like a rocket, so fast my vision clouded over momentarily, and thought, really? I finally manage to go to sleep and something wakes me.
Wait a second...
I shoved the covers off of me and walked over to the computer at once.
A new message was on the screen.
Ouch. So you're touchy. Noted.
"I am not touchy," I exclaimed indignantly, scowling at the computer. Who does he think he is?
I quickly typed back a response.
Remember when I asked for opinion? Me neither.
This night was turning out to be a disaster.
Right before I got into bed I noticed that the window was open again.
Are you serious?
There goes my hope of there being a bug in my computer.
I settled myself down in the covers and turned over, closing my eyes.
Not long after, there was another noise.
I was upright at once, scanning the black around me.
It was too dark to see anything, though, with the only light coming from the computer.
...the computer that I'd just turned off.
There is someone in my room.
Carefully watching the sides of my room for movement, I made my way back over to the screen and read the new message.
Oooh, feisty. I think I'm in love.
What on earth is going on here??
"I know you're in here," I spoke aloud, looking around me for the intruder. "Come out now and I won't press charges."
Then, a quiet laughter echoed throughout the room.
Crap.
As quick as a wink, I turned and darted toward my door, only to have it slammed shut in my face.
I pulled on the doorknob in vain, but suddenly,
two arms hit the door on either side of my body, trapping me in the room. I faced the wall, frozen, as a warm breath fanned the back of my neck."Steve," I spoke in a harsh whisper, "Go away. I have standards, no offense."
"None taken," The voice behind me causally replied. "Although, I do consider myself startlingly attractive, to each their own."
I paused.
That's not Steve.
Steve sounded like a baby panda.
"What do you want then? Money?" I asked, stilling facing the door, not brave enough to turn and face him. "Because I'm broke. However, if you'd like some ramen..."
"I'm not here for money," He said. Then paused. "Well, not entirely," The guy amended.
I gulped, noticing how dry my throat was. "Then what?"
He waited a bit before responding. "I think you can guess."
"Touch me and I'll scream," I resolved in a hard voice.
I could almost hear the amusement in his voice when he said, "Got it."
And something hit me in the back of the head, sending my world black.
