There was a loud clang and Goldennight opened his eyes and saw Tinjus go flying backward, a giant dent in the blade of his sword. Kuldr advanced on Tinjus, his giant sword glowing with a harsh golden light.
“Andlat will win.” Tinjus hissed, swinging his sword in a circular motion. “And there will be no more peace.”
Kuldr said nothing, only charged forward and slammed his blade against Tinjus’s blade, shattering the sword. Before Tinjus could flee, Kuldr reversed the grip on his sword and delivered a sweeping blow to Tinjus, cutting the dead dragon in half.
“I will be back.” Tinjus rasped. “We will meet at the final battle. And I will kill you all.”
As they watched, Tinjus’s bones dissolved into a fine ash. Cobra broke the silence by saying “I’ve heard of the old kingdom, but how do we find it?”
“Well, there is one dragon who would know.” Acekiller said after a moment had passed. Everyone turned to look at him and he grunted. “Just because I’m an assassin doesn’t mean I don’t know stuff.”
“Well, what is it?” Queen Peacebringer said impatiently.
“It’s obvious actually.” Acekiller said. “We need a dragon who was alive when we still lived on the continent and was there when the tribe moved.”
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” King Cobra muttered. “And I hope that you aren’t gonna say what I think you’re gonna say.”
Acekiller shot Cobra a glare, then continued. “We have to visit the grave of King Cairo, the king who moved us to the island.”
“Great!” Goldennight exclaimed. “Where is he buried?”
“That’s the problem.” Acekiller said sheepishly. “Nobody knows where he was buried. He had his closest advisors do it and there are a few who insist he left behind a series of clues to get to his grave.”
“That’s just a rumor though.” Cobra said, but Acekiller shook his head.
“It’s true. I can prove it.” He said, unslinging his longbow. He gripped it on either side of the middle of the bow and twisted, the bow screwing apart into two pieces. He grabbed a small scroll out of the center and put the bow back together, reslinging it over his shoulder.
“I discovered this a while ago.” He explained, unrolling the scroll delicately. “It’s written by Cairo himself.”
“I’m sorry but can we all just take a moment to realise that in front of us is a fricking god, that claims to have made the HybridWings all so long ago, just so happens to show up with a new snake forsaken prophecy?” Nightfighter said sarcastically.
Snow just patted Nightfighter’s head with her wing playfully. “Welcome to Pyrrhia,” she said.
Goldennight leaned forward to look at the scroll as Acekiller read “To find the second clue, seek the ocean blue. Find the ship of the deep, the Treasure inside an answer shall reap.”
“What in the name of Kuldr?” Cobra said, then shot a quick sheepish glance at Kuldr. “Sorry.”
Kuldr shrugged. Goldennight turned the words over in his head. To find the second Clue, seek the ocean blue. “Obviously we’re supposed to go to the ocean.” He said aloud.
“Yes, and “Find the ship of the deep” must be talking about a shipwreck.” Cobra said. “Only problem is, I’ve never heard of any shipwrecks before.”
“There is the Treasure.” Kuldr offered. “It was one of the only armed ships that the HybridWings had when they fled Pyrrhia. It sunk right as they made it to the island because it ran into an underwater reef and ripped a hole in the hull.”
“The Treasure inside an answer shall reap.” Goldennight recited. “That has to be it!”
“Well, looks like we’re going to the HybridWing kingdom.” Nightfighter said. “Again. . .” With that, everyone lifted off and flew in the direction of the HybridWing kingdom, Kuldr following along behind them.
