Goldennight opened his eyes, squinting as his eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight. He sat up, groaning as all his muscles protested.
"Are you okay?" Acekiller asked him from where he was sitting.
"I think so," Goldennight answered.
Kuldr walked up and knelt beside Goldennight, resting a talon on his forehead. The scales of the god were warm, like being next to a fire on a cold night. Kuldr narrowed his eyes slightly and removed his talon.
"Is everyone okay?" Goldennight asked, looking around to get his bearings. They were in a clearing in some sort of forest, maybe somewhere in the LightWing territory on Furusato.
"Your little stunt used a lot of your energy," Kuldr said. "In fact, teleporting nine dragons across the world is not something you could have done. Someone used your body as an anchor."
"Who-" Goldennight began to ask, but Kuldr cut him off by standing up.
"Vanyali!" the god roared.
The trees shimmered, the leaves started to fall. Wind blew into Goldennight's face, the leaves spiraled in the middle of the clearing.
"It speaks," a female voice said sarcastically, Goldennight tried to find the source of the voice but couldn't find it.
"You could have killed the boy!" Kuldr flared.
"He has more strength than you know of," Vanyali replied, a slim dragon appeared in front of Kuldr, staring into his eyes. "He can handle more than any other mortal can."
"Look Kuldr I'm fine," Goldennight said standing up. "So... no fighting please?"
Kuldr ignored Goldennight. "He is our way, he is our only way we can do this," Kuldr yelled. "He will not die under my watch!"
"He said back down Kuldr," Acekiller said, he picked up something from the ground and pressed it against his face. Only now did Goldennight notice a scar running down the assassin's cheek. When Acekiller took down his talon from his face, there was a metal mask on the side of his face.
"You are one to talk," Kuldr said. "How do we know you are not working for your father?" Kuldr asked.
"Acekiller what is he talking about?" Goldennight asked, still horrified by the mask he is wearing.
"Only the king and queen knew this," Acekiller said. "But I must, my father is Andlat, and I am his son, a demigod. I am the son of death."
