Jihyo"Our ancestors?!" Tai and Fai screamed.
I have to admit, I was shocked myself. I mean sure I always felt a connection between us but I didn't think it'd go back that far.
Mom nodded. "You've always wondered why an Asian woman was living amongst you guys right? Well now you know. We go waaaaayyyyy back."
"But why did our ancestor decide to stay?" Jimin asked.
Good question.
Mom sighed. "Well, once they learned the truth about the man's family, your ancestor decided to dedicate his life in caring for them as payment. A life for a life."
Rita scoffed. "Knowing my ancestor, there had to be a deeper reason why she decided to let them stick around."
I didn't like her tone but Mom smiled anyways. "Indeed Rita, there was a deeper reason why your ancestor kept them around. There was more to the vision."
More?
"What do you mean more?" Kookie asked.
She sat back in the couch, exhausted. "Well you see Kookie, their ancestor foresaw a certain future that would entwine their fates with our ancestors. One that could either save the world-" a slight pause, "or destroy it altogether."
"Wait. What do you mean our ancestors Mrs. Park?" NamJoon was on the edge of the couch.
Seriously? He's not even concerned about the whole 'destroy it altogether' part?
Mom smirked again. "Remember when I said 'he and his friends' earlier?"
My eyes snapped open when I caught on.
Oh my Buddha.
"No freaking way." I whispered.
A nod. "Those were your ancestors boys. Our families go waaayyyyyy back."
We exchanged similar looks of disbelief. The girls were just as shocked.
Like sure, I always felt these guys were like my brothers but this was a whole different level.
"What was the fate?" It was Rita's turn to whisper. Her voice shook. Almost like she already knew the answer, she just wanted the rest of us to hear it.
Her eyes were glued to the ground, her mind far away. For a moment, I wondered about the variations of her Gift.
"Ah, yes. That. Well, I was told it was centered around two ancient Gods. Pili the Black Lizard God and Sina the Goddess of Beauty and Fertility." She explained.
"Whoa whoa hold on there. GODS? WE'RE DEALING WITH GODS HERE?!" I was incredulous.
Mom sighed. "Yes, son. I don't think any of you remember the story about those two deities because you were very young when we first told you. But Rita, would you mind explaining?"
Rita rolled her eyes.
What's her problem?
Her eyes darted over to me.
