"NOOOOOOO! ARIAH! COME BACK! PLEASE! THERE'S ANOTHER WAY!" I begged, straining against my bastard of a Dad.
"Son stop! She saved us. Saved you!"
I shoved him off, watching him hit the wall in shock. "You're a monster! A traitor!"
He stood up, flexing his shoulder. "Excuse me? I saved you from the very same fate your Mom ended up with-"
"No Dad. You were being selfish! You didn't care about me! You just wanted revenge!" I screamed.
I ran in the room, to grab the one thing I knew would be the only hope for anyone anymore. A small package my Mom gave me before she died. I wrapped it in one of my sweaters, shoving it in a bag before making my way out again.
"And just where do you think you're going young man?!" Dad stormed into the living room, a bottle of whiskey in hand.
I held in my anger, facing him. "Thanks to your selfishness, Ariah and perhaps the entire fucking world is in danger. But you wouldn't know that would you? Cuz revenge is the only thing on that broken mind of yours!"
His eyes flashed. "Don't you dare try to blame this on me! When your Mom died-"
"I was broken too!" He flinched, surprised when I cut him off. "When Mom died, I needed you. I needed you Dad! But what did you do? You pushed me away. Wallowed in your own self pity, and look where that got us."
He stood, mouth open, not sure what to say.
"You can sit your ass here and do nothing like you always do, but I'm going after her." I spat, heading for the door.
My hand was on the knob when he spoke. "Why her?"
I kept my eyes forward, opening the door. "Cuz she was there when I was broken. Unlike you."
Slamming the door behind me, I pulled out one of the tiny fanua balls my Mom gave me before she died.
"One day you will need these. Use them wisely son." She had said.
The small circular structure rolled around on my palm. Then a Whisper spoke at the back of my mind.
Think of the place you need to go to, feel it in your mind and summon it!
I thought carefully and long, praying to someone it would come out right. Then I threw the ball hard at the floor where it shattered into dust particles that created a black vortex. Well, more like a black hole. I flinched, hesitating to step inside the oblivion.
Take courage and go!
I jumped in, screaming when it closed in behind me. it was like being on a rollercoaster, one where you couldn't see, which made it ten times scarier. Then slowly, an image started to unfold. Litttle by little I was able to make out concrete. A balcony maybe? Then it opened up wide, letting me walk out.
I was met by Tai beating the living hell out of a familiar face. She was bleeding with both eyes swollen shut so I couldn't make her face out. Blow after blow it only worsened.
"Yanan? How the fuck did you do that?!" Rita screamed from my left.
I turned to find them all there, standing and watching the fight like it was normal. Behind me, the portal slowly faded, returning to the dust particles before disappearing completely.
Now Tai stopped, panting with one hand holding the poor girl up, the other mid air for another punch.
"Okay, I know it looks crazy okay? But there are things you need to know right now. This-" I gestured at the fight, "needs to stop. We've got bigger issues."
