Woke up late in the night to see Colin staring at me..his lovely stare.. I smiled and tried to raise but he was still holding me tight in his arms and didn't let me.

-Feeling any better, honey?
-Much better. And slightly hungry..
-Do you think we could go out for dinner? Or at least to the hotel's restaurant..
-Going out sounds much better. I'd love that. I would rather have some pasta cooked by you..but I guess that small restaurant is okay too..
-You think Emily would like my cooking?
-I do. She must like it too.. Oh, by the way..call her Em. I had a dream about us.. and that's what we were calling her.
-A dream? What about?
-Well, just us holding that little sweet baby girl who was having the sweetest smile I've ever seen. Very much like your smile.. And those bright, big, brown eyes..
-Of course.. She's my daughter after all..
-She was looking just like you do, babe. That lovely look..
-Which one?
-This one..the way you are staring at me with those deep innocent eyes. You know this was the look I meant, not the other..
-I was just kidding.
-No, you were teasing.. But I guess I deserved that.
-Because you tease me every time you get the occasion?
-Yeah..
-I never said I mind it. It's funny, actually.
-You're so easy to tease, babe. And I'm glad you find it funny.
-Some people would get mad..but not me.
-Not you, hubby.
-So..shall we go?
-I though you'd never ask.

Went to the restaurant which was again empty, especially because it was 9pm and everybody already had dinner except for the sleepy ones..or one, as I was the one who overslept.
We ordered pasta and I eat quite an impressive amount of them..maybe Em was looking like Colin in my dream, but she was definitely having the same taste in food as me. As I was thinking about that I probably was smiling dumbly because Colin asked me what I was smiling at..

-Just thinking how much out girl likes pasta.
-Good..I thought you were smiling at the pasta..
-Ha-ha. Very funny..
-You're so cute when you fake that annoyed look.. As for Em.. She's like you at least in this matter.. I'll have a hard time cooking for you two at home.
-Good luck, then.
-I'd rather appreciate some help..
-Chef assistant.. That's me.
-Do you think it'd be a good idea to have a family dinner tomorrow?
-To tell them?
-Yeah..I guess it would be nice to tell them all at the same time.
-And over dinner..a nice, relaxed context. That might work.
-It will, I'm sure.
-Alright then. I'll call mom to let her know. You call your boys and tell them to come around 7pm, okay?
-Okay, darling.
***
-Hey, mom!
-Hey, darling! If you called to check up on us you can calm down. The house is not on fire. And we're doing well.
-Glad to hear. But that's not exactly why I called. I wanted to ask you to cook dinner for 8 or 9 people tomorrow.. You think you have time to do that, mom?
-Sure. You want to invite friends over?
-Is more like a family dinner, mom. But I'll invite Jen and Jack too. Not sure if Jen can come, she might have plans with that new boyfriend of hers.
-Maybe she can bring him too.
-He's not exactly family.. And we want only the closest family and friends tomorrow night.. Because we have something to tell.
-What's the matter?
-I won't tell anyone in advance. Not even you, mom.
-Alright then..I guess I could wait.
-So, you okay with cooking for all of us?
-Sure, darling. I will.
-Great! Thank you, mom.
-See you tomorrow! Can't wait to hear what you two have so important to say..
-We can't wait either. Byeee!
***
-Mom is going to cook for us. And she almost made me tell her what the news is..but I wouldn't.
-Same thing almost happened to me too.. But I managed to keep my mouth shut.
-Are they coming?
-Of course. They're curious.
-Great. Now I have to text Viv, Jen and Jack really quick and let them know about our plan..I hope they'll all come.
-I overheard the part with Jen's boyfriend.. Maybe it won't do any harm if we invite him too. I mean..
-I know what you mean and yes, it would be civil to invite him. But I don't trust a guy who's been Jen's boyfriend for like 2weeks now with such an important matter.. A secret, in fact.
-You think he'd leak it to the press immediately?
-I don't know him.. He might.
-Alright.. Let's not invite him then. But you want Jen there.
-Let me text them..
***
-All good. They're all coming.
-Perfect. What did Jen say?
-She said she broke up with that dude. So we shouldn't worry.
-2weeks? That was fast..
-You know her..looking for a love like ours in all the wrong places.
-She should try the parliament..
-She said she doesn't want a politician or a lawyer. I don't think she knows what she wants, actually..
-Those clubs won't really give her an answer..
-The same thing I told her.
-We think alike..
-Always..
-What color should we paint Em's room?
-Mint green!
-You already thought about this, didn't you?
-So did you..
-Green? Not pink, purple or I don't know what other girly color?
-No way! I always thought that a foolish thing. Who says pink is for girls and blue for boys? I always loved blue and green and hated pink.
-You're different from the average people from so many points of view..this really doesn't surprise me.
-And our girls would think the same way, I believe.
-Cathy already does. She loves blue.
-Precisely my point..
-Do you have any other ideas about our little girl's room?
-Only a million more..yeah.
-Care to share them?
-Oh, I can talk for hours about this.. I was thinking about a white crib, one of those stylish ones with silk curtains around.. And some wall decorations, maybe golden..gold looks good on mint green.
-You know you could easily have become an interior designer..
-Thanks.. So, I'm always thinking of a closet to match the crib. And that implies a lot of clothing shopping.
-Shopping.. Yay..
-This one would be fun. Promise.

We kept talking about that during dinner and after it back in the hotel room. I eventually fell asleep with thousands of designing ideas running through my mind..
***
The following day we spent walking and enjoying the fresh air of the forest and the slightly warmer sun up on the hills..
In the afternoon we left to return home and reached it by 6pm..

-Hey, darlings!
-Hey, mom!
-You actually arrived late. Viv is already here.
-She's here most of the time. Doesn't mean we're late.
-You got a point there.. Come, don't stay in the door like that.
-Where are them?
-In the living room watching Frozen. Cathy actually fell asleep and Viv is watching the rest of it alone.
-Who doesn't like Frozen after all.
-Even I came to like them..almost forgot how it is to have little children. Good you reminded me that, honey.
-You mean child, babe.. I said giving him a desperate look for almost blowing up our surprise.
-That's what I said..
-Let's go let our thing upstairs and then say hi to Viv, shall we?
-After you, darling.
***
-You almost gave our big news up.
-I said child..didn't I?
-No, you said children.
-Blame my subconscious then..
-What's with the noise?
-I think my boys just came too.
-Alright. Let me change real quick. You should do, too..
-Yeah, I can't find jeans..
-You're looking in the wrong drawer, babe. Is the upper one.
-Right..here they are.

We changed quickly and went downstairs to see that everyone was already there and sitting around the table, talking. We watched them for a few seconds and then looked at each other, silently agreeing it was a good time to tell them..

-Hey, everyone!
-Oh, we though you wouldn't come..
-Yeah, what took you so long?
-Sorry for being late. And for making some of you nervous, I glanced to mom and Viv.
-We have an announcement to make, Colin said taking my hand into his. We'll become parents..again.
-Yeah, again. This time from zero..
-You mean that you are..
-Pregnant.. yes, I am.
-Well, darling, that's.. That's wonderful news!
-Thank you, mom!

After the shock of the announcement settled in every one of them congratulated us. Mom was extremely happy for us, and so were our friends. Colin's boys were awfully quiet but I couldn't blame them. It was another change they had to get used to and it wasn't easy..having a future little sister so young that she could be mistaken for your daughter.. But they eventually got used to the idea..time definitely solves everything..
