Chapter 2
I was angry, but I walked over emotionless. Sydney still had red eyes, but other than that nothing. We stopped near them.
"Sydney, what's wrong?" Eric said, coming to her side. She looked at me. Danny and Austin turned around. Austin looked wide eyed at me and Danny looked concerned. I didn't look like I was crying, but he could tell somehow. I ignored him and hugged Danny.
"Nothing."
"Come on, something's gotta be wrong?" He asked concerned.
"Eric, I said I was fine!" She said frustrated and walked away with Eric on her heels. I turned to go, but Danny turned me around.
"What did you tell her?" He asked almost glaring. He hated not being in on serious things.
"Nothing."
"Don't give me that shit Jamie. What did you tell her." I tried not to break down right there. I stayed strong, glaring back at him.
"Nothing! I already told you." He gripped my arm harder. "Danny, fuck, stop it." I said.
"I'll be at your house tonight. Don't think your not gonna tell me." He said, letting go. He walked away and I stood there.
"Fuck." I muttered. Then I realized who was behind me. I looked back to see him standing there looking at me. I walked away without a second glance.
I groaned. I had to tell Danny before I told my parents because I didn't want him there when they flipped on me. The day was going by quick and I remembered that during free period I had to call my Aunt. I went to the hall and called her. We talked and she said she would call me back soon. After that was lunch. I went in to more starring. I sighed. I went in line and Danny came next to me.
"Have you decided to tell me yet?"
"Your waiting until tonight remember." I said, looking through the line of food.
"Jamie, I'm just worried for you. I care about you and I want to know if something is wrong." I looked up into his caring eyes.
"Thanks Danny, but it has to wait until tonight." Then he came towards me and kissed me. I melted into it, I hadn't been kissed in a while. We broke and I walked quickly to the table and sat next to Sydney. I didn't say anything. From the way she looked at me she had seen it too.
"Let's not talk about it. I'm trying to forget." I said as she opened her mouth to speak. She went back to eating. He was my best friend, I didn't like him like that, but obviously he did. He sat down across from Sydney and was quiet also. I didn't know if he was coming over tonight now.
I looked up to see Austin with his group of friends. He was looking over here. He looked angry. He'd seen it too. I looked down. I was out of luck, I heard him sit down next to me. Shit, I thought.
"Hi." He said. Dull and cold. Great. I didn't do anything! Wait, why am I worrying, he's the one who did something. A lot of something, with Kendra. I almost growled out loud.
"Hi." I said back. I didn't look at him, I just sat straight up and picked at my food. Then I heard something that made me freeze.
"Sorry." Eric muttered.
"You better be." Austin growled through gritted teeth next to me.
"I-it's fine." I said. Then I felt the warmth of Austin's hand on my leg. I didn't move. I could see Sydney out of the corner of my eye. She seemed angry. I had told her about what Austin did. She's the only one I told. If I told Danny Austin might not be alive right now.
I heard my phone ring, breaking the silence.
"Hello." I answered. It was my Aunt. I kept it quiet, so that no one knew what we were talking about. I could still feel Austin's hand on my leg. She said yes and that she would be waiting at the airport tomorrow afternoon. I kept my answers simple. I hung up and looked at Sydney. She sighed.
"I know." I said. I looked around and no one seemed to know what we were talking about. I looked to my right. Austin sat there confused and I looked away.
"What have you been up to lately?" Austin asked. Measuring my ever growing stomach, I wanted to say, but I didn't.
"Nothing that concerns you." I said, still picking through my food. I was done so I pushed it away. I put my hands down and it landed on the one he had on my leg. I let out a silent gasp and moved I his off.
"What did I do?" He asked innocently. Did he really think I was that stupid? I just glared at him and stood up and left with the rest of my friends. I couldn't wait for this day to be over.
After the last period I went to my locker to grab my stuff. I opened it to find a folded piece of paper sitting on top of my books. I grabbed it and put it in my bag. I left and was at my house with Danny.
"So what was it that got Sydney upset and you couldn't say in school?" He asked coming towards me as I sat on the couch.
"I'm pregnant." I said, looking up at him. His face turned to shock and then anger. He put his hands in fists.
"When I get my hands on him." He growled. His face was twisted in anger.
"No! Danny no! Only you, Sydney, and my parents are going to know. I'm leaving tonight to go to Miami for the pregnancy and may or may not come back with the baby. I don't want you going near Austin! He isn't going to know. I don't know what I'm going to say, but I'm not ready and I don't want him to know! If you tell him Danny I swear to god." I said to him pointing a finger as I stood up.
"Ok, I won't tell him." He said with his hands up. "You know it's going to be hard for me not to beat his face in, and I'm going to miss you." He said calmly.
"I know, but this is the way I want to do it." I said. "Now go so I can break the news to my parents when they get here in half in hour." He left with a hug and then was gone. I almost broke down again. I wasn't going to see my friends for nine months, at the least. I sat down thinking when I heard the front door open. Here goes nothing, I thought as I stood up and made my way to where they were in the kitchen.
