Prince Lance was bored. The Garlan had placed him in a room with no instructions about where anything was nor when he would be fed. His first thought was to explore on his own, but he knew the most likely outcome was that he would have to explain himself to the Galra.
Lance was no stranger to his kingdoms position with the Galra, it was his job as a prince and a paladin to know the dangers his kingdom was in. Lance remembered very well the day he became a paladin, it was the day the original paladin had been killed.
It was a gruesome battle and hundreds of soldiers from both sides had already fallen. The original paladin, whose name only brought Lance great pain, had been fighting right beside him. Voltron had created an opening for the soldiers and the paladins joined them in taking the Galra down from the inside.
The pair had been in a fight with a Druid when the paladin was hit from behind with a sentry's blade. Lance had been so furious that he was able to access his own powers over quintessence and taken down everything in his path.
When it was time to leave the ship he had felt something calling to him, it was faint at first, but the closer he got to it, the stronger it pulled him. He had been holding the body of the paladin and assumed the Blue Lion had let him in due to this, but when the other paladins discovered it was him, they told him it wasn't true.
Prince Lance of Altea was the paladin of the Blur Lion. King Alfor had never looked so disappointed.
Lance was knocked out of his thoughts by a knock at the door. He went towards it slowly, preparing himself for anything. Or so he thought.
He opened the door to see a Galran unlike the one's he had seen before. Look at the picture above.
"Prince Lance," the Galran said with a bow," I am Keithak, head of the royal guard. I will be here to assist you and protect you."
"I don't need your protection," Lance said defensively, "I am an accomplished soldier, I can take care of myself."
"Your tales on the battlefield are not unknown to me." Keithak stood up straight (hah) and looked down at the Altean. "Palidin of Voltron, Prince of Altea, Second in Command to all of its army, but where we Galra come from it is different. Your titles recognize you as an enemy and the protection I am here to offer you is not from outsiders, it is from the Galra themselves."
Lance was surprised. Usually his guards wouldn't say anything when he told them he could defend himself, but he couldn't say he didn't like this change.
"And what's your story? If you can defend me better than myself, what have you done in battle?"
"Keithak Kogane, Half-Galran who worked his way through the ranks of the Galran army. Fought in the war against the Alteans without killing a single soldier. Was promoted by Lord Zarkon until I became the head of the Royal Guard."
Lance was frozen. Half-Galrans were usually killed by Lord Zarkon before they could make it in the ranks at all. This handsome Galran must have done something big to have been allowed to live at all, and Lance was determined to find out what.
Before he could say anything Keithak spoke.
"Dinner will be served in a half-hour. Zea will come for you then."
