Those words rang in Keith's ears all night as he tried to sleep. He had found the Altean interesting when he had first met him, that fiery attitude, defensive personality, and the graceful way he walked. Like water.

He laughed at himself quietly and ran his hands through his hair. You're gonna have to get over this. Lotor will kill you if you steal his sister's fiancé.

Keith knew this, but all he could think was that Lona herself wouldn't mind. Lona and Keith had been friends since they were pups. They'd learned a lot together. When he found out Lona was dating an Altean in secret, he had been the one to protect their relationship. They were still together to this day.

Keith cared deeply for his friend. Though he was very close to his crew, Lona had been his first friend, and the first person he had come out to.

When Keith had joined the military Lona had been the one to make Zarkon let him in. A decision the emperor would not forget.

Keith flew through the ranks, surpassing even the most experienced soldiers. Zarkon was grateful for his daughter's stubbornness at allowing the halfling into the ranks.

He took his daughter's advice several more time's, allowing Annie, Zea, and Rae into the ranks. They eventually found themselves on Keith's ship, and the four had never separated since.

Keith buried his head in his pillow.
