Chapter 16

Shailene's POV

"He told you he likes you?!" Miles shouts at me on the top of his lungs.

I have just told Miles all about Theo. Our first meeting, the flirting, the girlfriend, first challenge, first breakfast, and so on, and last his confession. Is it a confession? I...don't know. Was it just a joke?

Anyway, it takes about 30 minutes to tell Miles all the story. I sound like a thirsty horse now. And then, thanks to Miles, he responds me with a scream that I am sure Theo can hear from his room.

Actually, I don't know whether he is in his room or not, I haven't checked yet. And I won't. I am scared to go outside my room, I am not ready to meet him again. I will be ready in 100 years. Whoa..I am such a drama queen. And whose fault is that? Theo.

If it is not for his deep eyes, soul-baring stare, his muscles, his actions, his care for his nephew and niece, and don't forget his eyebrows, I will not being like this.

-Flashback-

While I was waiting for Miles to come here, I paced on my floor. I was like an iron ironing. My head was processing about all of this, there were so much to think about.

I was really glad that finally Miles came to my room and I pulled him to my sofa and told him all the story.

- End of flashback

Everything is happening so fast. I need to slow down. He needs to slow down. We need to slow down if we want this to happen. Saying 'I like you' is not as simple as that. It is more like you are having a kinda-rush-one-night-stand "wham, bam, thanks ma'am".

"Hello? Earth to Shai." Miles waving his hand in front of my face with a fast speed. I jerk from my seat and his hands accidentally connects with my face.

"Ouch!" I manage to cry out. It stings a little.

"I'm sorry baby Shai! I didn't mean to!" Miles grabs my face and caresses my cheek. He looks sorry, of course he is. That is an accident right?

"You know what, Shai? I don't expect someone to make you break your rules this fast. And I'm glad Theo can do it. You should date him."

"But what if it was just a joke?"

"What if it wasn't a joke?" Miles's words makes me doubt myself.

"I don't know him. Have you forgotten his girlfriend? That Ruth whoever-her-last-name-is."

Miles is silent and I put away his hands then shift away from him. I cross my hands around my knees and look at him expectantly.

"What?" He is dumbfounded by the way I am staring at him.

"What what? What should I do??" I throw a cushion to him. And luckily, he can catch it.

"Do you like him?"

"No." Miles crooks an eyebrow at my fast response. "Okay...I do like him." I sigh in defeat.

"I hear there's a 'but'."

"But, it is not that simple."

"So what do you want to do? You need to slow down? Slow down. You want to get to know him first? Then get to know him. It is simple." Wow, it makes sense. I don't know Miles could be wise like this.

"So baby girl, think about that and let me know. I think he really means it." Miles hugs me tight and leaves after that.

Here's what you are going to do, Shai. Keep him at friends distance and we'll see from that.

I just finished unpacking my things when I hear a knock on my door. Then I hear a door opens and closes.

Huh?

I go to the door to see what happens outside. I open the door and find a box that is placed on my door mat.

That is not a bomb right? Or worse, a prank?

I pick up the box and it is a little bit heavy. I close the door and grab my scissor to open it.

Oh. My. God.

Inside the box, I find 20 boxes of my favorite cookies! And there's a card and I read it.

Dear Shailene,

If you read this card, then you have found the replacement of the cookies I have eaten earlier. And.. also my apologies about what I said earlier.

I'm sorry. That was so stupid of me to say that. But I really mean it. I know you probably mad at me. I understand.

Please, forgive me.

I can't think...

There is a knock again on my door and I rush to the door to see who it is. I discover Theo outside my room, holding a yellow rose.

"Will you forgive me?"

I'm really sorry for not updating. And this chapter is really short. I'm sorry again. It is because I don't have time because my finals starts on Wednesday until next Friday. Wish me luck!
