My stomach twisted and turned as I laid their on my bed thinking about what I should do. There was a heavy pain in my chest that I couldn't get rid of. Sleep was impossible, and I found myself thinking about my childhood, before my father had left our family.

It wasn't perfect, but it was better than what we had now.

Dad would play with all us kids, teaching Tyler and Louis how to play football, and me to ride my bike. But my parents relationship was slipping, even as a kid, I could see it.

Mom kept coming home later than usual, and dad started drinking. But It all started spiraling out of control worse when dad left with Blake's mom. Mom was hardly ever around anymore, letting her work become her distraction and leaving my brothers who were not quite grown up themselves- to take care of me. I felt really bad most of the time. Tyler gave up his dream to go to college so he could stay home and make more money any way he possibly could, which then got him and Louis into the gang their in now. Mom pays the house bills and sends money our way now and then, but its not really enough to support our partying lifestyle, and school.

Summer wasn't over yet thankfully, Tyler and Louis both had already graduated, but I still had a month before I had to go back to the hell hole most people called 'High school'. I'm pretty sure Blake was going to finish off his senior year at my high school as well. Maybe school wasn't going to be so bad this year after all.. I mean, it is senior year- isn't it supposed to be one of the greatest years of our lives or something?

A knock on my door brought me out of the clouds, and back down to earth.

"Yeah?"

"Can I come in?"

"Blake?"

"Yeah.. I have your med's."

"Come on in."

Blake opened the door then quietly closed it behind him. He turned around and took his time walking to the edge of my bed and passing me two large pills along with a glass of water.

"Thanks."

I tossed back the pills and finished the glass of water before handing it back to Blake. He took it and started his way back out of the room without saying anything.

"Blake, wait."

He turned around slowly, keeping his hand on the door knob.

"What?"

I could tell he didn't feel like talking.

"Uhm… I just- never mind."

"Whatever."
