Amé didn't know Samantha, so when she heard of what happened, her heart only squeezed for a moment before letting go. But her chest ached knowing Ina was destroyed by the events, for that much was clear. The girls hung up an hour after talking on the phone, with Ina speaking in monotones and distant answers. But it was eleven pm in Ina's time, and the girls had to depart.

"What happened?" Dana asked her.

"A friend of Ina's, a coworker, committed suicide." Saying it didn't make it any realer, Amé thought. "Ina found her."

"Oh my God," Dana said, and wiped Amé's tear, which she didn't notice. "I'm... she must be broken."

Amé nodded. "I know Ina, and her lack of tears only prove how bad this has affected her."

"Amé when will you be going to the Common Room? I need to print this and since you're going that way, you think you can print mine?" And she added a cheeky smile, one that reminded her of Ina and that closed-eyes smile and bright teeth she has, and she couldn't say no.

"I guess," Amé laughed, but the laugh died at the back of her throat with the constant wonder, how will Ina get through this?

"Uh," she mumbled, staring off into the distance, "no."

"Are you sure you wouldn't like our psychological doctors to help you through this time Ms. Seele? It is free."

But Ina just wanted this call to end. She wanted them to stop asking her stupid questions, and acting like what happened to Samantha was a slip on a banana peel rather than an actual serious case. Sam had shot herself in the head, an instant death. Or was it painful? Did she die in agony?

Her bottom lips quivered and she exhaled, slow, but surely. As long as she exhaled, she's okay. "Will her mother receive the things that were in the safe box?"

"Yes, and the money left to you is–"

"Don't tell me about that tell me, is her mom okay?"

There was a moment of hesitation, but the final answer was "yes. As okay as she can be."

Ina nodded, and hung up. There was a letter in the safe, explaining why she did it and telling her loved ones it was better for her. But Sam was selfish. She left a windowed mother, a sister and a brother, friends and colleagues and Ina. She left her, with a trauma nobody deserves.
