When Hunter came to she was in an unfamiliar room and the first thing she noticed was white. white walls, white sheets, and a white ceiling. She glanced to her let and saw someone who she least expected to be there. Asher.
“Hey,” he said his voice cracking. “How do you feel?”
It was a stupid question they both knew that.
"Like shit," she said. "What happened?"
"Those assholes beat you up and left you in the hallway," He sounded like he was going to kill someone.
But why would he. He doesn't care about me he probably just feels sorry for me.
Hunter blushed realizing that he must have carried her here.
He probably thinks I'm fat.
Asher smiled.
Just then the nurse came in.
"Well, you're going to be fine it's just going to take a while for the bruises to heal and then you'll be as good as new," She handed her an ice pack and told her to just skip the rest of the day. The nurse smiled sweetly before she left the room and soon an awkward silence filled the room.
Asher cleared his throat, “Well come on,”
“Huh?”
“I’m going to give you a ride home.”
“And why would you do that?” Hunter questioned.
“Because it’s raining and you don’t have a car,”
“Why are you being so nice to me?”
Asher was surprised by her question. “Because I want to.”
Hunter sat there for a moment before she gave him an answer. “Okey lets go’”
Asher helped her up, mindful of her bruises, and half walked half carried her to his car.
On the way to her house the only conversation was Hunter giving directions to her house.
“Thanks for the ride, Asher,” Hunter said as she got out of his car.
“You want me to come in with you?”
“No,” she said a little too quickly. “I mean… I’m fine, but no thanks., see you later.”
Asher watched as she went inside then drove away. He was worried but figured she would be fine until tomorrow. Well he was half right.
