Chapter 9
Hunter ran to her room, never in a million years did she imagine that her mom would slap her. She thought that out of all people, her mom was someone whom she could trust, but apparently she was wrong.
If my mom doesn't even love me then I doubt Asher does. I’m probably just his pity project, the poor helpless little girl that gets picked on every day for something she didn't even want to happen to her.
She ran into the bathroom and dug through the cabinet and smiled when she found it. Hunter brought the razor to her wrist and cut. It stung, but she ignored the pain thinking that she deserved it. She never got a chance to go too deep because her mom called her.
“Hunter theres a boy here who wants to see you!”
“Coming!” She called back. She started to panic. The cuts were still bleeding and there wasn't enough time to wrap them. “Shit.”
She threw on an oversized sweatshirt and prayed it would hide the bleeding. Glancing around the bathroom she decided that she would need to clean it up when he left and went downstairs.
Her mom smiled at her, but she could tell it was forced.
“Asher tells me that you two are working on a project.”
Hunter looked at him questioningly because there was no project. He nodded at her encouraging Hunter to just go along with it.
“Uh, yeah it’s for…”
“Science,” he informed her.
“Yeah, umm come on Asher lets go to my room.”
He nodded and followed her.
“Keep the door open,”
Hunter blushed at what her mom was implying while Asher chuckled.
“Soo… What did you want? Because I know that there’s no project.”
He shrugged “I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
“Well I'm fine,” She snapped.
“Sorry I just-”
“No it’s fine… It’s just,” She paused. “Can you come back later please?”
“Why can't I stay?”
“Umm I’m busy?” It sounded more like a question.
She started to panic when the blood from her cuts started to go down her arm and onto her hand.
“I know you're not busy.”
He reached down and grabbed her hand. She gasped. He noticed and took his hand away thinking he did something wrong and felt something wet and sticky on it when he took his hand away. It was blood.
“Hunter?”
