Chapter 18
The week had come and gone too quickly in Hunters opinion. She never bothered to pack anything (anything she brought would be provided or confiscated) and her mom kept her home from school, so Hunter was left to stare at the walls all day. Even with left with having nothing to do the days passed faster than she would've liked.
She gazed around the room as if trying to comment every little detail to memory. She was really going to miss the privacy of her room since there wasn't going to be any in rehab. All of the doctors were going to be breathing down her neck and they might not even let her shave. They would say it was all for her own good, but in truth it wouldn't change anything and at the end of the day she would still wish she had succeeded in killing herself .
She had almost circled the whole room when her eyes landed on an old picture. Smiling, she picked up the photo that she had almost forgotten about.
The picture was of her parents and Hunter when she was around six and it was pretty hard to believe that only a year after this picture was taken that her whole world fell apart. Her dad told her mom that he had gotten his secretary pregnant. Hunter had a sinking feeling that her mom knew about the affair but didn't want to believe what was happening behind closed doors.
When he told his wife about what had happened her first reaction was to punch him in the face then scream at him for almost an hour until it news had finally sunk in. Hunters mom had cried all night because she had wanted to be wrong but instead had been right. She cried because her marriage and family had fallen apart. They tried to make it work for Hunters sake, but ended up getting a divorce three months later.
Her dad moved to Los Angeles with his secretary and soon be wife to take care of his new kid and they haven't seen him since.
Hunter sighed before taking the picture out of its frame and put it in her pocket.
“Hunter hurry up!” Her mom shouted.
Flinching she grabbed her ipod off of her dresser and prayed that they would let her keep it because it was the old version that couldn't get anything but music (A/N I forgot what its called). Music helped her to express how she felt when words weren't enough. To Hunter music was so much more than rhythms and lyrics it was a way to escape. Music had even got her to stop cutting until she got to 10th grade which was when Amber showed up.She thought about these things on the way to her new “prison.” She was starting to wish that she had climbed out her bedroom window to escape, but that would've been pointless because her room is on the second floor. All thoughts came to a stop however, when the car stopped in front of a large white building.
