A/N: Sorry this took forever but I finally finished it
____Chapter 22____
"Nope," Kat said grinning.
Hunter shifted uncomfortably in my seat silently willing him to leave. She wasn't good with meeting new people, unless they were like Kat and spoke for her.
Jake smirked at his food obviously sensing her awkwardness, while Kat continued asked him rapid fire questions. She glared at him and he continued to smirk.
Jake had this thing about him where he could almost sense when something was wrong with someone. Kat had called it his superpower. It was slightly enduring and kinda creepy. If it really was his superpower then Hunter knew he could tell how awkward she felt and that he was silently laughing at her.
She tuned back into the conversation just as Kat finished introducing her and Jake.
"I'm Hunter," she prayed that didn't sound as hostile as she thought it did.
"Mitchell," he said. His voice was raspy like he didn't talk much.
She didn't know what to think of him at first he was nice but he acted as if he was hiding something, but she supposed that they all were hiding something. Kat continued to ask him questions while Jake kept glancing between Mitchell and herself. Hunter could almost see the gears turning in his head.
By the time lunch ended, Hunter didn't know any more about Mitchell than when he asked to sit with them. All she knew was that he had an amazing sense of humor and could even hold a conversation with Kat. She found herself enjoying his presents in their little group and couldn't help smiling when Kat invited him to join them for lunch tomorrow and he agreed.
"Someone's got a crush," Jake sang once back in his room.
Hunter blushed and Kat smirked at her.
"No I don't."
Although that wasn't entirely true. Hunter just thought he was cute, but she still liked Asher. It didn't matter she was done with boys or people in general for that matter. Hunter was shook out or her internal rant by someone literally shaking her.
"You seem to zone out a lot are you okay?" Kat asked stepping away from her.
"Yeah I'm fine," Hunter told her while doing her best to not make it obvious she was avoiding eye contact.
It didn't work Jake could tell something was off with his new friend and he was going to find out.
