(A/N~ Makoto will be a little OOC, but I tried to make him how his usually is in the show as much I could! Thank you and enjoy!!)
Warning: suicidal thoughts/thoughts of leaving friendship. Depends on how you look at it.
-Makoto's pov-
Would Haru-chan care if I left?
Part of me wants to walk off into the water, leave my worries behind and not care about anything or anyone but myself, just for once. However, I don't believe it's my nature. Full of dread and suffering, I take a step forwards, the waves brushing against my toes.
"Makoto, I was looking for you," I hear a very familiar voice that's next to me say, heavy breathing with gasps from running.
We lock eyes, Haru's vibrant blue eyes transfix on my dull green ones.
"You found me quickly," I reply, my voice sounding hollow.
Haru seems puzzled for some odd reason and by the look of it, it's almost like he's thinking to himself, 'what was Makoto doing here by himself?' I'm not going to say anything though. Haru's smart enough to figure it out on his own... whatever he's trying to figure out at least... I don't even know.
Haru pauses his thoughts and says, "What are you doing?"
"Just looking for... a place where Haru wasn't at the moment." I drop my gaze down to stare at the water, feeling ashamed to admit that to my best friend.
Haru blankly stares at me for a moment before saying, "Why?"
"I-I just," I can't lie to him. He deserves the truth, "I just wanted to see if I would be okay if you weren't here with me." A long and uncomfortable silence fills the conversation. "Would you be okay if I weren't here?" I ask him.
Haru turns away, "I wouldn't have looked for you if I was." He says. I can't see his face so I don't know what expression he has plastered on his pale face.
I squint my eyes and smile, "Right... Of course!" I giggle.
-Haru's pov-
When I could not find Makoto after school I knew something was wrong. I went to the pool and then the meeting room. I still could not find him. I walked around the school a few times and then checked in with the others if they seen him. They told me they haven't so I figured that maybe he just wanted to get home fast and decided to walk home by himself.
But when I was walking home by the beach and saw a tall figure standing on the beach with their bags and shoes set farther away from the ocean, I just knew it was Makoto.
I ran to his side and saw his had a sullen frown on his face. I deeply frown at that.
When Makoto said, "you found me quickly," I could not tell if he was intending to play hide-and-seek or something? At least... that's what I hoped it was.
But the worst thing was when Makto said, "Just looking for... a place where Haru wasn't at the moment," my heart leaped.
Where was he trying to go? What would've happened if I was a little slower?
"Would Haru be alright even if I weren't here?" Makoto said to me.
That's when I knew that I could not lie anymore. I can't trick him. Neither Makoto nor myself.
"I wouldn't have looked for you if I was." Was what I replied.
"Right... Of course!" Makoto smiled.
That's when I knew I had Makoto back to normal.
We grab Makoto's things and walk back to our homes.
