Chapter two
Bailla brought me outside. Turns out, the sanctuary was underground. I almost died while climbing up the stairs. The stairs were grand. It was in circular form and the rails were gold. It was shiny and cool, I love the stairs but I hate climbing it. It took 100 steps just to get up here. I know, I counted. When we reached the top, I was out of breathe and panting like a donkey going through birth. While Bailla looked perfectly fine.
I looked around and saw that it was a bright afternoon. The sun was up and it was hot. I frowned.
"Are you a vampire?" I asked Bailla. She looked at me.
"Yes, why?" She said. I folded my shoulders and shrugged.
"Vampires burn in the sun right? Why aren't you, I mean we, dead yet?"
She laughed loudly and she even bent over. She left me there staring at her, looking dumfounded. "Oh, don't believe the tales." She said when she recovered from her short laughing session. "Those aren't true. Just because we hunt in the dark doesn't mean we are afraid of the light. Besides, why would sunlight kill us?"
That made me think. Why would sunlight kill vampires? I thought.
"Sensitive skin?" I asked.
"Nope." She shook her head. "You see, when you change, all your senses become stronger. Your smell becomes more vibrant, everything you see is clearer and brighter, when you touch something you feel more of it, when you taste you feel everything that is in the food and when you hear something it is louder. But when you transform, your sensitivity gets better. Your skin can bear up to a very high temperature of heat and cool. So your system can match to your upgrades. Or else, you'll die easily. You get faster and stronger when you change into a vampire. You can do unimaginable things-"
"Can we fly?"
"Err, no." She smiled. "I know your disappointment though." I smiled back a little, although I was a bit displeased. "Anyways, as I was saying, you can do unimaginable things like carrying a car or breaking a rock in half, I'm not even close to kidding. So when you change, not only your sensitivity to things increase, but your strengths also gets better. All I'm saying is that in the tales, only the weaknesses are shown."
"Oh." I said, trying to imagine what I would look like when I carry a car. It was hard to put everything she said to my brain. Even more just believing it. I can't even accept the truth that I'm a vampire already, and then I am hearing these things. It's just not sinking in, or maybe I was just hungry. "So... What do I eat?"
She laughed. "Let's go, this way please."

We passed the garden while going to the eating area. The garden was so beautiful, I wanted to look at it for days but I needed to eat. Flowers were sprinkled in every part of the place. Trees grew on the sides. Leaves are scattered on the ground, and the air smelled earthly and fresh. The garden looks so colorful, as if it's going to start singing and dancing. Just being in the garden gives me an overwhelming feeling, it's like I'm home.
"Anastasia, come on." Bailla said, looking back at me. I nodded and followed her. As we walked, I wondered what I was going to eat. I wish their food tastes good. Well, a burger sounds good. So does mashed potato, corn, steak and cake. Oh, I really am hungry. I heard my tummy rumble for the third time today. I can't wait to get my bloody hands on those food.
Before I knew it, we were there. And what I saw wasn't what I expected.
Grand chairs were aligned to a big table. They were made of oakwood and gold linings. The wood was colored dark brown and blue, the chairs were designed with plush seats and carved armrests. The set in the sanctuary are nothing compared to this. I'm starting to think that they have a thing for chairs and tables.
