Chapter three

It was dark. I can't see that much, but I knew I was in an alley. I looked around, nobody was there. I was completely alone, but I have a strange feeling that I am not. I feel that someone or something was lurking somewhere behind me. I shivered. Where was I headed to? Home? Where was home anyway? As I walked, the walls kept following me. It was like an endless maze. I tried to outrun them but they were too fast. My heart beat faster as I thought of the possibilities that could happen to me. I frantically scanned the place, looking for a sign of any being with me.

"Where are you? Show yourself!" I screamed. I sounded bold and brave, however, I was terrified. My hands were trembling at my sides, my lip was quivering badly. I nervously searched for anyone that might be with me in this dark and mysterious alley. Why am I here anyway? How in the world did I get in this place? All of a sudden, something caught my eye. My ears perked up and my eyes expanded. What was that? It was so fast that it was just a blur to me. Whatever it was, I was sure that it was not normal. I shivered uncontrollably. It crossed my eyes twice more. I realized that it was slowly revealing itself. Am I ready to see the thing? What is it? My heart pumped harder and faster that it started to hurt in my chest. Finally, it dashed one last time and stopped right infront of me. I didn't scream in fear or run for my life. I didn't even move. I just stared at it. These fangs, these long and sharp fangs. They terrified me but I can't help but stare as it glinted in the dark. It growled. I saw a part of his face. It was pale white, so pale that he looks dead. He almost had no flesh left on his body, he was somehow a walking skeleton. But I noticed something very wrong about him. He had no eyes. There were just empty sockets in his skull. Even without his eyes, I could tell that he was looking at me. That made me shiver.

He kept staring at me. He had no expression so I didn't know what he was thinking about.

"W-what do y-you...want?" I whimpered.

The creature moved his head. He glared at me and he glanced behind him. I followed his gaze and gasped. There were more. More of him, more of his kind. They were all coming straight at me. They were staring at me in a way that they want me in a stick set on fire as they came nearer. Once again I can't move. I can't think straight. My mind was blocked with fear, my body was numb or I was just choosing to ignore everything. I didn't know, I didn't have time to know. I was too shaken up to even open up a new thought. I then looked around. Where could I escape? I glanced behind me, I was surrounded. There was no escape. I was dead, oh my God, I was so dead. I panicked, my heart beat a hundred times faster as I turned round and round, trying to find a way out. But the more I tried the more time I wasted. Then they kept coming closer. Closer than before, closer than the last second. I knew that sooner or later they were going to get me. And sooner or later I would be wiped off from the face of the earth. No way out, not even one person to rescue me. I looked around one last time. They were so close to me that their face were so vivid and clear. Despite their lack of flesh, most of them looked eerily familiar. I gasped. No, it can't be. It can't be. This is impossible. I spotted one of the faces and screamed. I panicked, I was out of control now. I was hysterical. How could this happen? My mind went black as I saw that face once again. I pushed, kicked and fought through the creatures. Even with their sharp set of teeth, I needed to get out of here. I was wild, my body was pointing in different directions from resisting and fighting back from them. I was tired but I didn't care. I didn't care as long as I'm still seeing his face. I cried as I pushed them. It's the end, I knew it. The signs were all around me. I wanted to start over but I didn't know how. I don't even know if it's possible. How could all of this happen so suddenly? I wailed as I shoved some of them out of my way. Some even managed to bite my arm and shoulder. It hurt but it was nothing compared to what I was feeling now.

I needed to get away. I needed to find a way out. I was struggling as I tried to escape and then out of nowhere, I saw him standing just a few meters away from me. I stopped abruptly as I saw his face. It's as if time ended for a while, the creatures weren't annoying me now either, it was just the two of us. His face wasn't bony or fleshless like the others. He looked healthy and perfectly normal. I noticed his eyes right away. It was so warm and it would brighten anyone's day. I didn't know what I really felt about him right now. My emotions were all mixed up. I'm not even sure whether he's real or not. I just stared at him, utterly dazed.

"Anastasia." He breathed out. I wanted to cry in amazement. He remembers me! I wasn't smiling or even moving, I was just standing there. It was like making any movement is out of the question right now. Too many shocking things happened to me these past moments.

"Anastasia." He said again, but he sounded urgent. Like he wanted to tell me something right away. I itched to ask what and why, but as I've said, I was paralyzed with awe.

"Anastasia!" This time he was screaming, he sounded afraid. Not for himself but for me. His finger was pointing at something behind me. I looked past my shoulder with a confused face and saw that there was a mob of vampires running. Which were all headed to me. I glanced back at him to find that he was gone.

"Nooo!" I shouted, and then I felt a shake. At first it was gentle and then it became hard, it almost hurt. I didn't know who was shaking me because no one was there except for me and the crazy mob. What was I doing? I should be running away from them. For what? I thought again. It's not like I actually have a chance in surviving this madness.

"Anastasia." I heard it again. It was so loud that it rang through my ears. Who was that? I thought as the sound vanished slowly, echoing across the alley. I felt the shake again. It was agressive and I felt two hands grip my shoulders, but they were all invisible.

"Anastasia!!!" I heard it yell finally and then water came dashing down from all around the place. I felt the water wrap my body, forcing me not to breathe, I was drowning. And then, I was gone from my world.
