(Y/n) heard the threat that laid in his tone, and in response, she cowered back. What did he mean by that? Why was he keeping this such a secret? And more importantly:
What did he have to do with this?
Luckily, it seemed that she didn't have to ask the questions herself, as the Indian began to speak on his own accord.
"By the look in your eyes, I'm assuming that you realize that this is the... volunteer that we had in order to replicate the physical copy of Google IRL. It was quite a fascinating experiment at first." He explained, smiling as he held a delicate hand up to the glass that held Mark inside, "In 2013, we had created the first prototype of Google IRL-"
"His name is Googleplier." She spat, now realizing that the name had a much bigger significance now that she was staring up at Markiplier himself. Sundar stopped talking and gave her a confused look before nodding in agreement.
"I apologize. Googleplier was first created in 2013, and he was the biggest project that we had developed. I was quite proud of it myself, to be honest."
His face morphed into one of disappointment and frustration as he let his fingers trace over the engraving of the trapped man's name.
"But it turned out that there were too many malfunctions for us to continue. There wasn't a single device that could power him positively, and no one else's body was pair-able with him. It was somewhat like a kidney transplant rejection - it just simply wasn't enough for him. Considering that discovery, we had to go back to the original source of his life."
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes considerably at him. And although he was turned away from her, she knew that he felt her stare on account for his darting eyes and cowering demeanor.
"We didn't want to have to do this. But (Y/n), you of all people should know that Googleplier was too good of a resource to just lose. He'll change the way that we think of A.I., robots, cyborgs - everything!"
"You kidnapped Mark?!" She shouted, causing him to flinch. He nodded quickly, glancing up at her to try to show her the humanity in his intentions.
Of course, she understood how important Googleplier was to the company. It would make Google absolutely untouchable by other competitors, and it would open up a whole new, untouched market within first world countries. But she refused to accept the fact that they took an unwilling subject and he was forced to give up his normal life to further the advancements in robotics.
It was absurd.
"How dare you take his life away from him! How could you even think to do such a thing!?" She screamed, earning no reply from Sundar.
"Everything would have been lost if it weren't for Mark's sacrifices." He explained, causing (Y/n)'s blood to boil.
"That wasn't his fault, and you're acting like you're not all to blame for this! Are you just not going to explain how his house was unlocked when I had investigated it? How he's still supposedly 'uploading' videos to YouTube to continue to assure his fans that he's okay? How are you going to explain this to his family and friends that have no idea where he is?"
"I will never tell them." He said, turning his darkened face over to the girl, "And neither will you. Trust me, (Y/n) - you're the hardest and most successful worker in this company by far. But if you so much as hint to anyone else that Mark is here, I will make sure that everything you've done comes to a quick end."
The engineer gulped at his threatening words, and she recognized that he was most definitely not bluffing. He would do anything in his power to make her life miserable, no matter what she attempted to do to stop it. She was having a battle within her mind about this whole thing and was having trouble distinguishing what would be the best decision. Was the end of her long, earned career worth letting a family know that they'd never see their son again?
