Sleepless Nights (RinHaru)

Wishing.

It was the first day Rin had left the house by himself.
It was a bit odd.. maybe a bit worrying too.
Odd because these were the streets he walked everyday to get to his old school and he somehow remembered them like the back of his hand.
Worrying because he knew it was possible to see his old classmates, the people who made fun of him and made him feel unwelcomed.

It was such an odd feeling being back while he knew he had a life back home. True, Rin did have problems back home that wouldn't be easy to solve, so maybe he would stay in Australia forever.
It wasn't like him to run away from his problems. That was Rei's thing. Hahaaa track jokes.
It felt like a stab to the chest when he remembered what had happened.
Makoto getting all friendly and cozy with his arm always around Rin, his own stupid answers to Haru asking if he was gay, and most of all... Just watching Haru walk away.
Rin couldn't help but remember a small incident that had happened when Rin and Haru were younger. It was before he went away for the first time, and it seemed that Haru - one to normally never show emotion - was close to tears.
Of course, Rin didn't quite know what to do, so he just leaned in and kissed Haru's nose.
But, he missed. Rin had kissed Haru full on the lips.
It did seem to make Haru stop the oncoming tears, but it left both of them confused.
To Rin's knowledge, he didn't kiss anyone after Haru. And hopefully it was the other way around too.

As Rin went down to the beach, he saw all the happy couples strolling around, holding hands and smiling.
There were two boys that stuck out to him.. They seemed the happiest out of all the couples. They both had shining wedding rings on their fingers and they seemed genuinely in love. It was beautiful to see, really. Two people able to walk around and show how much they cared and loved each other. Two men with the ability to refer to their partner as "my husband".
God, Rin wished he could have that..
He wishes and hoped and dreamed to have a life as happy as that.
But maybe wishing is all he'd ever do.
