"Mom?" I called out. I was standing outside the room my mom was staying in, since she had her door locked. "Mooommmm? Helloooooo?"

Still nothing. Ugh.

"Are you asleep?!" I asked a little louder. I knocked a few times too. If she was, she definitely isn't anymore. I'm just gonna have to accept the ass whooping I might endure because we got places to be!

"What the hell are you banging on her door for?" I heard from behind me. I looked over my shoulder and rolled my eyes when I saw Jeremiah standing there. Apparently he's in a funky mood still and I don't feel like dealing with it.

"Trying to wake up our mother. She has a doctor's appointment at ten, remember? And she's not answering me." I explained.

Jeremiah huffed a little. "Well shit, I wouldn't answer either if you were banging on my damn door. Chill."

"She's gonna be late." I argued. "If she's sleeping then she's gotta get up and get dressed and all that. I haven't talked to her since last night so I don't know what she's been doing."

He shrugged. "She's grown. If she misses the appointment, she misses the appointment."

I frowned. "Ok, no. She needs to go cause what if something's actually wrong?" I turned back around to face the door and started knocking again. "Mooooommmmmmmmmm!!!! Wake up!!!!!"

"I hope she beats your ass." Jeremiah mumbled before walking off. I rolled my eyes and kept knocking. Yeah I was being obnoxious but hello, she has a doctors appointment in less than an hour.

"Moooooommmm!!!!!!! Are you–"

The door swung open and I stumbled forward a little. Luckily I was able to catch myself before falling on my face. Whew that was close, can't damage the money maker.

I looked up at my mom and smiled when I saw she was dressed. I guess she was just ignoring me this entire time. Wow.

"Sorry but I thought you were asleep still. I didn't want you missing your appointment." I told her. She looked pretty tired and uninterested but I didn't take it personally. She's probably not feeling the best since she got sick yesterday. I thought she went to sleep early last night since that's what grandma told us, but apparently not.

"It's fine. Let's go." My mom replied dryly. I shrugged and followed her downstairs to the foyer. My grandma was standing by the front door and I was a little surprised because I didn't know she was coming with us. She kept looking between my mom and I like she wanted to say something, but she never did.

"Grandma, you ok?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled, but I could tell it was forced. Why the hell is everyone acting so weird today?

"Yeah honey, I'm good. Beyoncé, you ready?" My grandma asked. My mom just nodded and walked out the door. She didn't even bother saying bye to the twins or Jeremiah, nothing. Something is definitely up.

"What's her problem?" I mumbled under my breath. It was intended for my ears only, but of course my grandma heard me.

"Your mama is just.... stressed right now baby. Go easy on her please. She's dealing with a lot."

I raised my brow. "Like what? What do you know that I don't?" I asked. She didn't say anything and I frowned. "Grandma–"
