Chapter 3-Part 2
They walked over to the clean counter where Alan had about 30 test tubes; all filled with blood “Which one is mine then?” Anastasia asked since as far as she could see, the tubes weren’t labelled with anything “How can you determine which one is whose? And whose are all these samples anyway?”
“Don’t worry they are just random people don’t ask how I managed to get their blood as you probably don’t want to know” Adam gave her a sly grin.
“Anyway your blood was kept safely cooled in this fridge” Alan signalled behind him at a steel door.
“Oh ok, have you noticed anything different at all about out bloods?” Adam said.
“Well, all I have noticed is that Ana here has about 50% more iron that you Adam, but that however is totally normal as she is, obviously female”
Anastasia felt herself blush a deep beetroot red.
Adam motioned for his grandfather to continue talking.
“What is unusual though is the amount of plutonium in your blood, while it is possible this is a side-effect of the Bomb especially as plutonium is highly dangerous and with this amount in your blood stream, no offence, but you should be dead,” Alan raised his bushy grey eyebrows at her “everyone has incredibly small amounts of plutonium in their bodies but this… it is remarkably high, have you had any contact with plutonium that could have triggered this? He stared at her.
Anastasia took a deep breath in, “I don’t know if this is any relevance to what you have been saying but if I tell you it can’t harm anything this is the only thing I can think of which could help this but I’m not sure” She mumbled quickly.
“What is it Ana?” Adam said urgently.
“Well, it’s about my parents, everyone just thinks they died when I was very young and I don’t remember or know much about them…well that isn’t wholly true, you see… my parents… they worked…what I’m trying to say is…please just remember this was their choice not mine…don’t judge me…they worked in the Government and they…they…they helped develop the Bomb”
