"It has been 13 years since she has been missing. The infant can child was taken from her mother's womb 13 years ago. There has a been a new lead on the case. It has been discovered that the child has a big..."
"Turn that mess off. I told you no t.v. at the breakfast table." I heard my mom Regine tell my brother Angelo as I walked into the kitchen.
Today was the last day of training and the last day of summer vacation. I dragged my sore body to the breakfast table and plopped down in a chair.
"Good morning sweetie. How are you doing?"
"I'm okay ma." I told her even though all the muscles in my body was screaming out for me to lay down.
"You don't look okay. Angelo I think y'all have been too hard on her." She said to my brother.
"Nah she's alright. She is tougher than you think." Mickey Jr. said sporting a black eye.
I smiled at the memory of giving it to him. We were out to the abandon warehouse where we had moved our training. They had me blindfolded outside with nothing but my favorite knife. I traded gun for him my knife. Don't get me wrong I still like to use the gun but I loved the personal feeling of the knife. You have to get close to a person to kill them with a knife and that's what I loved about it.
MJ thought that I didn't hear him sneaking up on me from behind. But I did I heard his breathing. I caught him in the eye beforehe could hit me. Dad told me that night that my hand to hand combat has really improved.
"I told your dad that I don't think this is a good idea. I mean look at you you can can't even sit up straight."
"I'm okay ma stop tripping."
"Who's tripping?" Mickey asked walking in the kitchen.
"Renity said that mama tripping cause she wants her to stop training." My youngest brother Raheem told dad laughing.
"She's not training anymore. She's going on a run with me tonight."
"Mickey do younreallybthink that's a good idea. I really think it's too soon." Regine said.
"No it's time. Shit it's been time really. She needs to start putting her training to use. It's nothing major and she will be with me the whole time. She will be alright." Mickey said sitting down at the table.
"And if she comes home with so much as scratch that's your ass Mickey." Regine said fixing him a plate of food and dropping it down in front of him.
I really didn't understand why she was acting like this. I mean it's no secret that she was once in the game. Now she had me scared to ask her can I go to public school. I hated all the stuck up and prissy girls at that school. I had ask her before and she said no. Maybe my dad could back me up this time.
"So I have been thinking." I said to my mom.
"You been thinking what?"
"That maybe I could go to public school now."
"No no no. We have already been through this." She said to me angrily.
"I think that she should go sweetie. It would do her some good to be around various type of people." Mickey said to Regine. I sat and ate my breakfast quietly who is listening to them talk.
"I just feel like I am losing my baby. She doesn't even talk like the same little girl anymore."
"That's because she's not Regine. Renity be ready tonight at 8. Don't have me waiting on you." My Dad said to me as I got up from the breakfast table.
"Yes sir" I replied walking to my bedroom. I really hope that he talked her into letting go to public schools. I mean I really had no friends at that school and I have been there since Pre-K.
I stayed in my room practicing moves with my knife and reading. Before I knew it it was time to meet my dad to go on a run as he call it. I saw him sitting in the car already waiting on me.
"Right on time. Thats good. Look I am taking you to meet someone who we will be working with. It's good for you to start putting names to faces. You have your friend on you?"
I shook my head yes.
"Good you should always be prepared wherever you go. I just started working with this cat a couple years ago. I am just going to pick up some bread and introduce y'all. His name is Quadd." My dad said to me as we pulled away from our house.
