BEN decided to go someplace else as we were walking home. I said it was fine since I had Shadow with me and that I was only a block away. He probably had to do something with the creepypastas. He waved goodbye and gave Shadow a little treat and left.

Shadow stayed by my side the entire trip. If anyone got to close for comfort, he would protect me. I thought it was cute. Even though we were only a block away, I was still paranoid. I don't know why, but I'm guessing Shadow could sense it.

Me and Shadow slowly walked up to the path to the porch. I scanned the house, making sure no one was watching us, especially seeing Shadow change forms. No one was looking, so I kneeled by him.

"OK boy, this is it. Are you ready?" I asked. He then fell to the ground in his other form. I took that as a yes and picked him up. He wasn't that heavy for such a really big dog. I slowly walked up the porch steps up to the door. Shadow looked back at me, waiting for my signal. I mouthed 'Are you ready' again. He nodded his head. I mouthed '1, 2, 3' and opened the door.

"Mom! Dad! Come quick! This dog! Its was hit by a car and needs help!" I yelled. I'm guessing that they were on the other side of the house. I quickly ran to the kitchen and sat him down on the counter. He began whimpering. They heard me and ran to help me. Dad had the wrap and Mom had the medicine.

My mom worked as an EMT for the hospital. She always had extra medical kit in the bathroom in case of emergencies. She thought that this was an emergency. Little did she know.

"What happened!" she asked in surprisement.

"I was just walking home today when I saw this dog. He ran out into the street and some idiot hit him with a truck and just drove off. I had to help him so I came to you," I lied.

"Well, you did the right thing. This dog would have been long dead if it weren't for you," she said, immediently putting on the medicine. To play along, Shadow started howling in "pain". Dad wrapped the wrap around his leg, and gave him morphine. He slowly dialed the noise down.

" He will be fine, but you have to take care of him OK?" mom said. My face lit up.

"I will, I will, I will!" I said reassuring them. They looked at each other and nodded. I helped Shadow to my room. I sat him down on my bed and told him to wait. I walked back to my room and stood in front of my parents.

"So how long do you think he will have to keep that thing on for?" I asked.

"From the little amount of damage that actually occurred to the leg itself, probably only a week or so," she said. I nodded and walked back to my room to find Shadow right where I left him.

"Good boy. Now you will only have to wear that for a week. Can you handle that?" I asked him. He grinned and nodded his big head. I sat down next to him and began petting him. He scooted closer to me and rested his head on my lap.

"Good night, Shadow," was the last thing I said to him until he fell asleep.
