"Hey sleepy head, get up, you're gonna be late for school." I heard Jen say as she opened my curtains.
"Nooooo." I mumbled, rolling onto my other side and facing away from the hellish light.
"Carson. You can't miss anymore school. Besides, it's districts week. Didn't you say Anna was going to let you bowl?" Jen said, taking a seat on the side of my bed.
"I can't. I can't sit in class and watch her eyes light up every time she teaches us something new."
"What do you mean?" Oh shit..
"It's annoying. Kinda like when you open the curtains every morning." I rolled my eyes and got out of bed.
"Carson, can I ask you something?" She asked from the doorway.
"Can you not watch me pee?" I asked with a smile.
"Sorry." She turned around. "But really, can I ask you something?"
"What Jen?" I put toothpaste on my toothbrush, but waited until she asked.
"Do you have feelings for Miss. Carter?" With that, I shoved my toothbrush in my mouth, motioning that she'd have to wait until I was done for an answer.
I walked around my room getting dressed and making sure I had everything I needed to go back to school, so I could leave as soon as I was done brushing my teeth.
"Carson, please don't ignore this. I want you to talk to me."
I spit in the sink and whipped around.
"Talk to you? All I've done is talk to you about almost every little thing that's gone through my head the past few months. I'm sorry that I don't want to share my thoughts about her that could possibly get her fired!" I snapped.
"You have feelings for her, don't you?" She whispered.
"Yeah, Jen. Yeah I do." I said.
I grabbed my bookbag and walked passed her without a glance. I knew she'd talk to me about it later, I just couldn't deal with it now. I sped to school, not really caring if I got pulled over or not.
"Hey Lex." I smiled. I missed her. Not in a romantic way, but I missed how close we were, I could tell her anything.
"Hey Car? Can we talk about something sometime?" She asked hesitantly.
"Yeah, definitely. I'll see you in math." I walked away and into the school.
I headed to my locker, finding Chloe already there.
"Hey, everything okay? I tried to call you over the weekend, but you didn't answer."
"I'm sorry, I just had some family stuff going on."
"What family?" She said without even thinking.
"Excuse me?" I was taken aback.
"I said what family? It's just you and your cousin." She said, rolling her eyes.
"What the fuck?" I yelled, not caring who heard.
"What?" She asked, like she didn't do anything.
"Fuck you Chloe. I don't want to see you right now." I said, before I grabbed my bookbag and walked away.
I walked into Anna's room for the first time in over a month and slammed myself down in a seat. Anna wasn't in there so I called Jen.
"Carson are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay Jen. Can I go home?" I asked, trying to keep the tears at bay.
"I'm sorry Carson, but you gotta stay today. I can stay on the phone with you until your class starts if you want?"
