Revelations

I stayed crouched over the snowy ground as the cold winter wind picked up, causing my white scarf to flutter harshly in the wind. Sitting there I sigh softly, my body tensing at the thought of me being in love, and especially- with him. I never thought it possible. This can't be real- can it? I looked to the sky solemnly. He's my childhood friend after all. Shaking my head slowly I close my eyes, and after I had that dream it's all too apparent that I have feelings of more than friendship for him. Looking down I shiver, more then friendship...
I love him, and I know I do. But I also know that I can't just tell him or let my emotions and feelings of love overcome me. I know that. I grit my teeth, then again, I kinda screwed up all my chances haven't I? I haven't seen Sidon since I defeated Vah Ruta. And that, that was a long time ago.
I stood up slowly, my scarf flapping wildly in the cold-frostbitten wind, and with a small nod of my head I kept moving forward.
Higher and higher into the Hebra mountains I went. Just for a shrine. Was it really worth it? To risk my life for a shrine? Eh, no one would miss me anyways...
I arrived at a wooden cabin up in the mountains, two beds were inside this particular one. A few more cabins were spread out in the area. They mostly had three or four beds in them, but for more privacy, just in case anyone appears, I picked this one, so I'll only have to deal with one person if they were to appear.
Night approached slowly, and the fire kept glowing brighter. I watched monsters run to and fro, they couldn't see me but I could see them as clear as day. A Lizalfos and a Bokoblin, one was easy to fight and the other not so much. I took that to note for the future.
I opened up my brown leather bag, which lay leaning against the wooden bed frame, and I grabbed a black leather bound journal from it. I pulled it out and put it on my lap as I sat criss-cross on the rickety bed. I opened it slowly and simply read the first line, Zelda. This would be, my end. I know I should be meeting up with Zelda but, over these past few days... I can't do it anymore.
This is- this is my goodbye. It was bound to come sooner or later...
Or so I thought, but- he was the last one I expected to show up that night. But he did. Sidon.
As if appearing from nowhere a man wearing a black cloak entered the cabin quietly, seeing that someone else was in there. My hair was down and I looked unrecognizable to most. The man dropped his bag beside his bed and pushed it under the frame. Then he sat down sighing softly under his breath. I closed the book after writing down a few words, and shoved it back into my brown bag, buttoning it down. I then pulled the blanket over me and turned away from the stranger, facing the beige wall, staring at the cracking wallpaper.
I heard him take off his coat and place it on his bedrack. Before saying hesitantly, "Link?" My eyes lit up at the man's voice. I sat up and turned to him slowly, my eyes sparkling. "Sidon?" I gasped slightly in surprise. "What are you doing up here in the Hebra mountains? Aren't you supposed to be heading over to Gerudo Valley to meet up with Zelda?" The Zora asked quickly and without hesitation. Hearing him say that caught me off guard so I simply turned away, hoping to end the conversation at that. "They can last without me." "I don't know about that, that Zelda sure is a piece of work."
I snickered at his sly comment. "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be running a Domain?" I bit back with an innocent smile. "Haha, they can last without me for a few days," "I'm not so sure about that." He looked up at me with tense eyes, and I stared back at them, it was as if the sun was in his eyes, except one thing was off. Those eyes. They weren't the eyes I remember, the glowing eyes full of confidence. His eyes were like the sun, and now... they are dull, as if his sun has disappeared leaving only a stain of where it had been. He's here for the same reason I am isn't he? At the thought of him trying to kill himself I had to hold back the urge to cry. I wanted to end it all, and to slumber quietly amongst the pure white snow of the Hylian Hebra mountains. For all eternity... but when the thought of Sidon doing the same, and if I were to be left behind... god I'd hate myself so much for not noticing.
He looked away into the vicious flames. "How long?" I blurted out suddenly without thinking, he looked at me questioningly. Well, might as well ask now... I sighed softly, "How long- have you wanted to kill yourself?" I asked as the wind rocked the small wooden cabin gently. "Tch," he bit at himself as he threw his head to the side gently. "It was really that noticeable eh?" I chuckled at him. "Only because we're friends Sidon- best friends." He cringed slightly as I said that. "That's all we can ever be..."

3RD POV

As soon as Link said those last words before trailing off Sidon looked up at him, eyes wide. "You-" "want something to eat?" Offered Link as he started rummaging through his bag. His eyes cold and far off. Sidon stood up slowly, the boards creaking underneath him as he started walking towards the small blonde, his eyes digging into Link's bangs like his life depended on it. Link tried to ignore him but eventually looked up at the red Zora, "here." Link said as he held out a bag full of apples. Sidon reached for the bag before suddenly grabbing Link's wrist. "Ah," Link gasped slightly at Sidon's tight grip. "I knew." Link's eyes widened at the statement, "wha- what do you mean?" Sidon pushed Link back, scooting him further back onto the bed before turning him.
"WAH! Sidon!" Yelled out Link quietly as Sidon pushed forward slightly making Link fall back onto the bed, the pillows beneath his head. "Si- Sidon!" Link said with a pink tint on his cheeks. "I can't stand it..." Sidon breathed out as he hovered above Link, a good foot between the two. Link's eyes softened as Sidon's eyes began to sparkle with tears.
"Sidon..." Link whispered as the Zora cried silently above him. "You..." he said softly as tears streamed down his face. "You were always doing something important," he clenched his teeth. "Always out and about on life threatening missions and all you got was a, 'thanks.'" Sidon's voice cracked at that last part. "You deserve- so much more..." Sidon placed his hand on Link's cheek, a soft smile gracing his lips, as he looked down at the guilty looking blonde. "What's wrong?" Sidon said as he stared down at Link, and a sad smile spread across Link's face as tears began to form. Sidon's eyes widened slightly, his body tensing. "Th- thank you..." Link said between breathes, tears now falling from his crystal blue eyes. Sidon sighed softly as he closed his eyes.
Sidon laid down beside Link, facing each other. Sidon simply smiled at Link, who had already drifted off. He shook his head before pulling the blonde closer. They laid there, Link huddled into Sidon's chest, and Sidon holding onto his sleeping form as the winter storm raged on outside...

"Link!" Hm? "Link!!" Link turned his head to the side as my hand suddenly grabbed him by his shoulder making us accidentally fall forward. "SIDON!" He yelled out at me as we both tumbled down the snowy hills. When we hit the bottom all we could do was laugh at our shenanigans.
After calming down from the roll we sat down in front of the lake before us. "Link, what are you going to be when you grow up?" "Huh? When I grow up?" "Mhm!" I said while nodding furiously. "I never really gave it any thought," Link said as he threw a rock into the icy lake. I looked at him curiously, "how could you have not thought about your future yet?" He stopped mid swing of another rock. "I guess... It's never been that important to me," He dropped the rock and looked over at the me anxious to change the subject. "What about you?" "Me?" I asked. "Yeah, what are you going to be when you grow up," I paused, before a wide smile appeared.

"I want to be able to be strong- strong enough
To protect you and my family...
forever"
