Chapter Three:
Finally. The last class of the day, Gym.
I don't mind gym because all we do is run laps and do push-ups and stuff. Which, is easy for me.
Christina and I walk to the locker room to change.
"Dude I have a feeling this is going to be a great year!" She exclaims.
I smile and nod. But really? I feel like this will be a terrible year. "Like did you see Will like totally checking me out?! I think he likes me."
I nod as we enter the locker rooms. We change and as we are about to leave, we bump into Molly.
Molly and I do not get along. She is such a bitch.
"Excuse me," I mumble. But she just stands there with her eyebrows raised and her hands on her hips.
"I don't move for Stiffs," she hisses.
"That's not even a clever name! Stop calling me that!" I yell.
"Yeah, Molly. Just back off, okay?" Christina complains.
Molly huffs but then slowly moves to the side. God, what's her problem?
Ringgggg
Finally! We walk out to the parking lot.
"Well, Text me!" Christina says as she hops into her car and drives away.
I wave goodbye and walk over to Caleb's car. I hop in and turn on the radio. Caleb always takes forever to get out of school.
The song "The Big Bang" by Rock Mafia starts playing. I love this song, so I sing along.
The Big Big Bang
The reason I'm alive
When all the stars collide
In this universe inside-
I look out the window and notice the new boy with the ocean blue eyes staring at me from a few cars away. He's leaning against his car door and he flashes me a smile before getting in his car and driving away.
I turn bright red and turn off the radio. Did he hear me? I hope he didn't. Now he probably thinks I'm a weirdo! Wait, why do I care? He's probably a player anyway.
I hear the door click and see Caleb sit down in the drivers seat and turn on the engine. He looks at me and smiles.
"Make any new friends?" He asks as he pulls out of the parking lot.
"Um. I met this girl named Marlene? She said Hi to me," I say quietly.
He nods slowly, "it's a start."
------
We pull into our driveway and I get out of the car and walk inside.
"Hey Mom! Hey Dad!" I yell.
"Beatrice! I'm in the kitchen!" My mom yells back.
I walk to the kitchen and she gives me a hug. "How was school?"
I lie, "it was great!"
Caleb comes into the kitchen and raises an eyebrow. He knows I'm lying.
"How about you Caleb?" She asks.
"It was good, I met this new girl at the library. I think her name is Lynn." He says grabbing a granola bar.
"Well that's good news," mom says looking in the cabinet. "Oh! Forgot to tell you. We are having our new neighbors over to eat supper here. So please," she turns to us, "wear something nice?"
I give her a face and frown. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing now?"
She gives me a bored look. "I picked out what you're wearing, it's on your bed. Now, go get ready! They are coming in an hour or two!"
