Chapter Eight:
I wake up and glance at my clock, 10:46 a.m. Christina went home last night instead of staying over. She said she didn't feel good. Strange.
I roll over and close my window that I left open last night. I turn away from my window and put on gray sweatpants and a black sweater. Then I quick put my hair up in a high pony tail. I turn around and when I'm about to open up the door, my phone beeps. I got a text message from Four.
Four: Hey Hun
Me: Um, Hiii
Four: The party starts at 3 but u can walk over early, if u want.
Me: Ya, ok sure! Thx
Four: Yep, c ya there ;)
I smile and drop my phone on my bed. I walk downstairs and sit at the island in the kitchen.
"Morning Bea," Caleb says messing up my hair. I hit his hand and cross my arms. I'm not in the mood.
"Woah, someone's crabby!" He says putting his hands up in defense. I roll my eyes and get up and grab a box of cereal.
Mom walks in the kitchen, "You just woke up, how could you two be fighting already?" She says rolling her eyes.
Caleb points at me and shrugs. I groan and stick out my tongue at him. Gosh we act like little kids sometimes.
"Hey Mum?" I ask her, "Can I go over to, um, a friend's house tonight for a pool party?"
She turns to me and smiles, "a party? You made new friends? Honey of course, go ahead! But who's house is it at?"
I roll my eyes and let out an irritated groan. "Thanks. It's at Four's house..." I say quietly. She doesn't like me going over to boys' houses.
Her smile fades, "Four? Marcus told me he's a troublemaker. That's why they had to move schools, he was getting in too much trouble. Beatrice I don't know about this, I mean-"
I cut her off, "but mom! It's just next door! Please? It will help me meet new people."
She sighs and shrugs. "Well, I suppose. But be smart, okay?"
I give her a hug. "Thanks Mum. I'll be going over there at noon. 'Kay?"
-----
I look through my closest and pull out a pair of ripped navy blue shorts, a light blue tank-top with a white crop top that says "Peace" and silver flats. I slip on my clothes and just comb through my hair. I quick grab my red, white, and blue bikini and run downstairs with my phone.
I text Christina and tell her I'm going to Four's house for a pool party. After a few minutes she responds:
Christina: Um. Okay have fun. I still don't feel good, sorry girl. Tell me how it goes!
I frown. I don't think it will be as fun anymore if I don't know anyone very well there. I just shrug and walk into the kitchen and grab a soda from the fridge.
Caleb comes running down the stairs and almost trips on the last step. I burst out laughing as he tries to regain his balance.
"Hey!" He scowls, "stop laughing at me!"
I shrug, "I can't help it, you're a dork!"
He groans and checks his pockets. "Have you seen my phone?" He asks.
I shake my head. He loses his phone all the time.
"Nope, but tell mom I'll be at the party, see ya!" I say grabbing my soda and heading towards the door.
"What party? The pool party?" He asks raising an eyebrow. Wait, how does he know about the pool party?
"Um, yah? How did you know?" I ask suspiciously.
"Dude, the whole school pretty much knows! That Four guy is pretty popular already." He says rolling his eyes.
My heart drops. So he is a player, isn't he? "Oh." Is all I say, and I walk out the door. I thought he wanted me specifically to come, I guess all he wanted was to be popular. What ever.
